contacts for eyes

Hey

I was thinking about buying some contacts (online or whatever). I'm not sure what brands are most comfortable and which ones are just extremely cheap. I'd prefer to have one that isn't crazy expensive but I have no problem paying more for ones that are better (less dry and uncomfortable).

suggestions? i'm looking at acuvue oasys. thanks

I've had no issues with either Coopervision or Acuvue Oasys. I have been using Acuvue Oasys the past year.

i've been using acuvue oasys for the past few years. i get them from costco. i think they say you can wear them for 2 weeks, but to take them out after 1 week to clean them. but i wear them much longer than 2 weeks :P i've had my eyes checked a couple times since and so far there's no problems.

+1 for Acuvue Oasys

using them for years. I extend my 2wk lens to 2months it seems.

On a side note, anyone know how bad that is for you? I just wear them till they start saying no...

What's the difference between the $25-30 monthly lenses and the $50 ones? I was fitted for contacts 2 weeks ago and so far I've tried Biofinity (not that comfortable) and air optix (just got them today but I'd stay they're a bit better than biofinity). Both are $50+ but I don't want to pay twice as much if the $30 ones feel the same..

acuvue oasys, or the acuvue 1-day moist. My optometrist compares Acuvue to Dailies which I think is a bad comparison, or good depending how you look at it.

I usually can't stand wearing contact lens for more than 4-5 hours.

I've been using ProClear Compatibles and they've been great.

Here's a tip for getting cheap contacts.

Buy from http://www.clearlycontacts.ca/

but first compare their price to other sites like:

http://www.coastalcontacts.com/ (US version of clearlycontacts, same facility as clearlycontacts in vancouver)
http://www.visiondirect.com/lens/def...sp?catid=27087
http://www.contactlensking.com/

Find the contacts you want, and chances are they will be A LOT cheaper in the sites above because of US pricing. The exchange rate is pretty good so call in to clearlycontacts customer service and get them to PRICE MATCH the cheapest of the sites above.
You can also use coupon codes on the competitor sites, so try to find the cheapest alternative with coupon codes.
ie. last time I got them to PM coastal, I found a coastal contacts coupon code online for 20% off, thereby making the price difference even greater.

Finally, when they price match for you they will give you an additional 10% off the price difference.

as an example
https://www.clearlycontacts.ca/conta...prod94002.html
https://www.coastalcontacts.com/cont...prod94002.html

8 boxes (2 years worth) of the above from clearly after PM with coastal (with coupon code for 20% off costal) came to $158. Original price from clearly would've been a bit over $300.

If you have the same prescription for both your eyes can you just order 5 boxes of left eye contact lenses or is the fitment for the right eye different?

"Please note that Clearly Contacts is a replacement contact lens store and can only sell you contact lenses for which you have a valid current prescription."

How do they know if I have a valid prescription?

go to where you buy your glasses and ask for samples of different contacts. Stores always have samples

I've been wearing Biomedics XC for 2 years now. They are cheap and each box can last you about 2 months. $20 per box. Highly recommended

can someone recommend contacts that won't dry out easily? especially for ice skating/sports/outdoors?

The contacts I wore last time on a public skate session dried up pretty badly, and my eyes were red after a while. Eye drops were only a temporary relief. I looked like I was crying out there.

Right now I'm on test contacts that the optician is making me fit for the first time, which he's switching to CIBA Vision Dailies AquaComfort Plus this week.

Are Acuvue Oasys good for those dry conditions?

Also these Dailies have a BC of 8.7, but Oasys on the clearlycontacts site only have a BC of 8.4 or 8.8. Do I just choose the closest one if I was to order?

Edit: I only mention the Oasys since a number of people in the thread recommend it.

I just recently switched over to Acuvue Oasys, and IMO they are the most comfortable disposable contacts I've worn - I went about a whole day at the office without them bothering me, when they occasionally did, an induced yawn took away the irritaion.
