They are still selling them directly to developers as well.
The phone hasn't disappeared. If you need it replaced, there will be replacements. They just aren't selling them on google.com anymore.
reading comprehension please. I made it hypothetical by saying IF. I know the phone didn't disappear and that there are replacements. That would be retarded business sense if there weren't replacements.
They are not going to give you a new one for sure. I called them today.
1. send the unit in, and they fix it.. around 7 days
2. they send a replacement unit(refurb) and charge your card right away...once you have it, you send them your unit
3. DOA... refund.
She even checked with supervisor.... no new units for them to give out. Not saying they aren't making them. Just saying they won't give you a new one. All replacements are refurbished units. Before you could do a return(within 14 days). Then order new unit from google. But that possibility is gone now.
its pretty awesome. works almost exaclty like the one in Sense. too bad theres only the peoples widget right now, im waiting for the calender widget to come out. hopefully theres a gonna be one for email too ... well now that scrollable widgets arent exclusive to sense anymore, i think we're starting to see what the big talk was about when they said 3.0 (gingerbread) was gonna unify all roms tgt.
I need some new Repo here. The one I have is so outdated....

Rooting is different from jailbreaking, since an unrooted Android phone can run custom software no problem. Android phones aren't in "jail" (forced to use itunes) to begin with (except some AT&T phones), so all you have to do is change a setting to install APK files directly.
Rooting is for installing software that requires root access. This gives you more control over things, like the hardware (overclocking, etc) and software (installing non-standard ROMs).
You can do a search on the Android market for "requires root" or whatever, to see what kind of stuff needs root access to accomplish. I've seen firewall software, remote control apps (where you can control your phone remotely), screenshot apps (there is no way to take screenshots on an unrooted phone directly), and more. Nothing that has compelled me to root my Desire yet though. If i knew 2.2 was going to be a long time coming, I'd probably do it then. But they say later this year, so I'll just wait.
what is leofroyo then? software replacement? i guess i flash the phone with it and it replaces froyo? do i need to root to install it? and any sites with a step by step on how to do this? thanks
WOW WTF. customs wants $154 for duties/taxes on the phone, and 2 docks. GG. my phone comes out to be $850ish. Now I have to wait until tomorrow for DHL to come by again...
shouldnt it be somewhere between 10-15%? they charged me 20%+...
