Not too sure about what threat to post this in but..

I'm interested in buying my brother an Android phone for Christmas because he wants to start developing for the platform. Looking at the Nexus One, Desire (or Z), or the Galaxy S. Any suggestions?

will nexus S be the next gold standard for developers?

I have a Nexus One, and love the phone. However, everyone I know that has a Galaxy S, say it's the greatest thing. Haven't heard much about the Desire Z, but the unibody construction is pretty cool!

I don't think so. From what I have seen it is very much a Galaxy S...of course with some minor hardware updates.

CyanogenMod-6.1 for Nexus One :: V6.1.0-RC2 released today.

Good chance since it will always have the latest updates from Google.

been reading about a lot of errors with this mod, probably going to wait until gingerbread gets released should be any day now right?

edit: updated to 6.1RC2 with 5.12radio, working fine!

Gingerbread should be monday..as thats what most are saying on XDA

so V6.1 went final release today
with Gingerbread to drop this week..or even tomorrow, things are lookin great again for us NexusOne owners!

so Cyanogen went 6.1.1 stable

yeah i was going to try the gingerbread but after finding out so many basic things don't work, i didn't bother. will wait for at least a stable, dont really get the hype for this new OS.

Is there a way to disable or remove the apps that are "synced" to my Google account? I want to do a clean install of CM, but keeping the same Gmail account. Can't seem to find any info on how to do this.

Every time I go apply my Gmail account as my Google account, it auto syncs all my old progams.

Ok so I'm thinking of porting over to mobilicity and getting this phone. Anyone on here switch from the iPhone to the nexus one? If so, what are your thoughts on the phone. One of the main reasons I love my iPhone is the app store, just the amount of games and other entertaining stuff I can download is amazing.

I switched from an iPhone 3G to the N1. I thought I would miss the apps...but actually the thing I miss most is actually the iPhones *slightly* more accurate touchscreen. Other than that, there are some occasional interesting apps that get introduced with the iPhone that I'm curious about, but it's not a big deal.

if games are the most important thing for you on the phone, then android might not be for you. Right now there aren't a ton of HQ games imo.

if Google doesnt step up and fucking release 2.3 for nexusone officially
