I'm just kinda really interested in the deal that mobilicitys got going on and I thought that the nexus one would be the new phone for me to go along with that deal. Maybe I should just try it out for a while and if I don't like it, just sell it on cl after. I know that one of the huge upsides to android is customization, but I think that could get old real fast. One other thing that really got me interested in android was the ability to turn the phone into a wifi hotspot, but then I learned that there's a app for it on iPhone in cydia and now I'm torn. Is 2.3 that important to make you want to get rid of it?

bb just does the core messaging/email/calling so much better, and thats what i really "NEED" in a phone. however, as much as there are lots of customizations and mods, it loses its novelty.

theres the "core" functions of a phone then there's the "add-ons"
as nice are the addons are (hd camera, faster processor, great screen, total customizability) but the bb does the core (email/calls/texting) just so much better, next to none. ive been through so many phones, but the bb is something you have to try out.

wait what? Since when does BB have the largest market share? If anything they've been losing their share for a while now.
android does email/texting just as well... I get my emails instantly and it integrates with my gmail so well. My core for a phone includes calendar that syncs with my online calendar (gmail) and has an alarm clock that actually wakes me up (shaketowake app)
I shy away from the BB because it doesn't have my core things and does emails/call/texting just as well. BB is annoying (for me) because it doesn't have widgets too... I've been through my fair share of phones too and android is by far the best in terms of versatility.
Can you explain how it does email/text/calling better than android...?

^^ When I was looking for a new phone (coming from Nokia N95) I tried BB... the UI seemed really archaic... sure there's push, but Android seems to be able to do it just as well.
The only advantage that i could see BB having is battery life... some android phone's need to be charged daily. I get roughly 20-24 hours of use on my Vibrant before it dies completely. My friend charges her bb every 2nd or 3rd day.

| calling for example, biggest peeve was i'd have to select "phone" (from dock), navigate to the contacts tab, menu, search , type in the contact name.
on bb, just type out the first few letters of the name straight off the homescreen, no delay with filtering through all contacts.
text/email, encrypted, PUSH as well, but biggest thing is the physical keyboard for me.

BB is only good for 2 things. Email and BBM. It currently holds a large market share because businesses use it for it's email capabilities. BUT.
Iphone and Android are catching up: http://blog.nielsen.com/nielsenwire/...ent-customers/

i got the torch 9800.
yeah RIM's market shares are decreasing as apple continues to sell to those mindless consumers paying for their overpriced toy. android is continuing to be more popular because because of the increasing dev/community support.
however, RIM bought out QNX to form their new upcoming OS, which is renowned for the "lightest (lowest memory footprint)" and "fastest". Im assuming this will be RIM's "savior" as their shares continue to decline at this moment.

RIM will continue to fail and lose market share unless they come out with more app support AND a functioning web browser that doesn't feel like something that was used in 1999.

RIM's saving grace will be to ease off its garbage and rewrite BlackBerry Connect for different devices. With the introduction of WhatsApp, it gives BBM a very good run for marketshare.
Blackberry connect was CRAP for symbian devices back in the day

You don't have to remember any stupid pin codes as it goes directly through your phone book to find people that already have it installed.

exactly,
but BBM groupchat FTW
eventually if what engadget reported was true on RIM lightening up its restrictions, we could see BBM on everything soon

imo the bb playbook looks pretty nice. if bb phones had a better OS they might get more people back.
i remember bbm was a huge reason people would buy bb so they could "msg with their friends", now with whatsapp and kick and other stuff bbm doesn't seem so exclusive.

Kik and pingchat are among the worst cross platform messenger apps. Whatsapp is where its at. Posted via RS Mobile |
