on bb, just type out the first few letters of the name straight off the homescreen, no delay with filtering through all contacts.

text/email, encrypted, PUSH as well, but biggest thing is the physical keyboard for me.

I'm not sure how you had yours set up but I just have to select phone and start typing in their name and it comes up for me to dial.

There's also plenty of androids that have keyboards.. :S

Maybe I'll trade a friend for a bb for a week or two and see if I like it.

Illicitstylz how was your transition to a smaller screen? I'm about to get rid of my desire as I have had to deal with far too many issues this past week. Calls not going through properly, as in I will hit call and it will say I"m calling but nothing will happen, texts going to the wrong person or conversations will not open. I had to spend 20minutes trying to send a text and in the end I had to restart my phone. As illicitstylz said I need a phone that will work as a phone and this isn't it.

Weird. My desire has been working flawlessly since I got it. It's one of the best phones I've used.

I've had these issues for awhile but its becoming more frequent. I'm extremely disappointed considering how smoothly it ran originally

i had a bit of the call, then take 10-15 seconds before it actually starts ringing, on several different ROMs / radios too so i dont think it was an operating software fault.

i had 9700, then nexus one, now 9800. the switch to 9800 with a slightly smaller screen was ok, the physical keyboard made up for this small screen, definitely was worth it.
i'd say it would be a happy medium / good transition for you to go to from desire to 9800 instead of the 9780.

@jkam - phone > typing the name? you'd be at the dialpad instead of the contacts list no? which means you'd have to go to contacts tab, then menu, search, (which pulls up the virtual keyboard), then finally type in the name

Oh sorry I forgot I had a different app. Superdial takes you straight into it so you can just dial the number or name.

I just upgraded to the 5.12 radio improved my signal considerably. Also tried a new Kernel to see if my battery life would improve. Stopped using CM and switched over to MIUI, alot simpler and better looking.

Wait for the Nexus S or wait a bit longer for the Xperia Arc.

dont bother with the nexus one, took ages to get rid of mine plus lost a lot of money on it over the 2 months i used it (based solely on street prices, it was kept in mint condition etc)

Well. Not everyone is looking for a phone to just resell. Phones always lose their value overtime so justifying that he shouldn't get it cause it can't be resold at a high value Is not really a valid reason not to get it. It's still a very capable phone.

the pricepoint as well as what its really worth is always something in the back of your head. apple consumers for one would never understand that.

It's just a release candidate so far, right?

I think I'll wait for a final release.
How does Cyo compare to MIUI? I'm using MIUI now, and it's pretty slick.

Nexus One Gingerbread OFFICIALLY rolling out today!!!

LOL I don't know why I find it exciting even though I'm rooted and have had the Gingerbread ROM for months now.

I would like to point out to anyone who says the "Nexus One" is dead and failed as a phone that of the entire Android lineup, Nexus One is one of the first phones to get the OTA Gingerbread Update even though it's discontinued.

See more here:
