I'm glad Gillis spoke out, it's about time. And can't the NHL find another job for Colin Campbell seeing how his son now plays for an NHL team?

dbaz 04-25-2011 04:04 PM

his son has played for an nhl team for a few years now nothing will change

RiceIntegraRS 04-25-2011 04:07 PM

Its been talked about and discussed about his son playing for an nhl team. But this is the first time that someone in the Canucks organization has called out the officiating and i absolutely love it. And i would love it if the media would actually spin it in our favor incase Blackhawks management, players and fans decide that were just looking for a scapegoat here

MR_BIGGS 04-25-2011 04:10 PM

Let's end the bandwagon talk...

Even for the most hardcore fan...a Canucks loss tomorrow would be devastating and they would be pissed about the Canucks choke job, failure whatever you want to call it.

I've been following and supporting the team since I was in kindergarten and I've used more lives than a damn cat "living and dieing" with the team...but i'll be honest.. its going to be damn tough to get exited for this team come September if they lose tomorrow.

Unfortunately once off-season comes and we sign some big name FA's that look to makes our team better, we'll prob get all excited again and think "maybe THIS year!"

At least that's how it is for me.

Agreed. With all the hype brought in, our core locked up and how the team did over the season, it's at this time where the team chokes and loses when they have all the weapons to make a deep run.

Of course fans are going to be pissed if we lose, but a collapse as epic as this, it really will be hard to look "forward" to next season, when everything pointed to this season being "ours."

If the Canucks didn't look like they let off the gas, then things might have been different, but from what we saw, they let the Blackhawks get the foot in the door, and allowed them to barge right in to force a game 7 that shouldn't have happened. I think everyone was expecting them to stomp their throats in when up 3-0, and rightfully so.

Not sure if this has been posted yet but a interesting stat is 33 of Kesler's 41 goals were against non-playoff teams.

cressydrift 04-25-2011 04:35 PM

Isn't this why we watch hockey? For all the ups, and all the downs. For epic collapses and epic comebacks. For goals scored in triple O.T in game 7. Heros and villans made. I know its cliche but it's history in the making (sports history). My team is the home team, the Vancouver Canucks. I will support them to the end and every season because for all the negatives, they do bring me positives and enjoyment which makes that shitty day at work, or the fight with the GF go that much easier. They also bring me memories and a sense of pride.

If they win tomorrow night this will just be a fork in the road to the journey to the end. Even if they win tomorrow, they still face an uphill battle. What if they make it to the western final and lose 4 straight? Or dare I say get to the cup final and lose. Then what? Why do you expect so much anyway? Its just a freakin hockey game which has NO affect on your REAL LIFE anyway. Just enjoy the ride and hope the best.

PS - Washington lost first round last year in a comeback fashion by the Habs. They had major struggles this season and they seem to be just fine now.

P.S.S - This is the second biggest game in Canucks history. The biggest being game 7 '94.

And 0 goals in 13 playoff games vs. the Hawks.

Tim Budong 04-25-2011 04:43 PM

who cares how or whom they score goals on.
This whole thing just needs to end tomorrow. whether we sneak by or blow out the hawks.
just win the game thing. It will inject LIFE back into this team and the playoff run continues.

It all depends on what kind of Luongo we see tomorrow. If he can stand on his head for us, it would most likely rally our boys to grind it out. Right now, I say it's 50/50.

Lets hope for the best

Hondaracer 04-25-2011 04:53 PM

its a sad state of affairs if Luongo has to stand on his head for us to win

^ No man. It's not all dependent on Lu. I think that's the problem for most Canuck fans. They put way too much weight on just Luongo. You've already decided that you're going to blame Lu if we lose. And that leads me to assume that in all likelihood, you'd say we won "in spite of him" if we win... :fuuuuu:

If Kesler plays like he did for the US in the Gold Medal Game, that should be just as inspiring. If Edler returns to game 1 & 2 form, if Bieksa beats someone deserving into a puddle right off the bat... the list goes on.

It's a team game. You win or lose as a team.

When have Canucks fans not put all the blame on the Goalie? They don't call Vancouver the goalie graveyard for nothing.

Lol yeah ok buddy. So if we score 5 and Luongo lets in 7 again it's not his fault at all? I don't think you got my post..I'm not saying this is ALL on Luongo, but in order to win, we NEED for him to play on his A-Game.

ok, so if we see a half assed flopping luongo, what are the chances of us winning? :speechless:

punkwax 04-25-2011 05:33 PM

Not very good! I'm not saying we can win with a mediocre performance from our goalie. I'm saying you can't put the onus on him alone. Which, in your original post, is exactly how you came across.

I dont care how many goals he lets in or how he plays as long as the team plays better than Chicago and has the upperhand where it matters..on the scoreboard!!!
