What an awesome game 7 last night, totally made up for my other team the Sabres getting rolled in their game 7. Few observations, we had both the CBC and the Versus feed for the Canucks game, and wow does CBC ever use some massive sound filters in Rogers Arena. Watching the feed on Versus, Rogers Arena was extremely loud, atmosphere was great, rivalling the Bell Centre. While at the same exact time on the CBC feed, Rogers Arena was really quite. NBC, Versus and TSN production wise >>>>>>>>>>>CBC.

A few players really stepped up their games for game 7 last night, noticeable Kesler, Burrows, Luongo, Hansen, Hamhuis, Higgins, Lapierre and Oreskovich. What I found extremely disturbing was the Sedins, while they had a couple good shifts and weren’t horrible, there was absolutely no urgency to their game and were extremely soft on the puck. Oh and again, Kesler, wow what a beast!

kesler was a monster.. i have never seen such beastly performance by any canuck in any game.. lu battled hard too.. and like you mentioned all the canucks D were superb. As for the Sedins.. their style isn't to run and gun and crash and bang.. they are more liek gretzky like players.. where they always look like they aren't trying/effortless.. They played much better though and controlled the puck better

I love Jim Hughson though...

I fell off my friends couch with Toews tied it. Honestly. Chaise couch so no armrest... well, I forgot there wasn't one, went to slump over and SPLAT on the floor. 6 pack might have had a little something to do with it too....

Great team effort, Chicago had no business winning that game, and they almost did. Canucks had several opportunities to put it away and gave Chicago every opportunity to get back in it. Crawford played amazing and is a much better goalie than I ever gave him credit for. But that being said, Canucks have to bury teams when they have the chance. I hope it was just the so called 'Chicago demons' because teams who don't cash in during those moments usually exit prematurely.

Last night's win was absolutely massive for the franchise. It could just be what the Canucks needed to go all the way. A lot of lows to learn from and one insane high at the end to give us the momentum we need.

Soak it in everyone, that Burrows goal will be talked about for the rest of our lives.

not to take anything away from crawford as he played lights out last night, but the Canucks really made him look better than he actually is.

I agree.. he was very very good and was solid as a rock, the play where he made 3 saves in a row.. Kesler has got to roof that....

Also he saw almost everything. BUT he did do a very good job not giving out crazy rebounds...

I feel like we'll never see the Sedins at that compete level or at least they'll never look like it. They don't have the quickness to make them seem like they're going balls to the walls and that's not their game anyways.

Hondaracer 04-27-2011 08:34 AM

Higgins and Lappy played pretty awsome last night, conisitant shifts everytime they were out

Datsyuk, Kesler, and Toews named Selke Trophy finalists
Wednesday, 27.04.2011 / 12:10 PM / News
Vancouver Canucks

Centres Pavel Datsyuk of the Detroit Red Wings, Ryan Kesler of the Vancouver Canucks and Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks are the three finalists for the 2010-11 Frank Selke Trophy, which is awarded "to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game," the National Hockey League announced today.

Members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association submitted ballots for the Selke Trophy at the conclusion of the regular season, with the top three vote-getters designated as finalists.

Ryan Kesler, Vancouver Canucks
Kesler helped the Canucks record the lowest team goals-against average in the NHL (2.20) for the first time in franchise history. He ranked fourth among NHL forwards in blocked shots (80), appeared in all 82 games and averaged a career-high 20:29 in ice time to lead all Vancouver forwards. The speedy center ranked sixth among NHL centers in face-offs taken (1,496), winning a team-best and career-high 57.4% of them (859), dished out 124 hits; recorded a team-high 65 takeaways and posted a +24 rating. Kesler is a Selke Trophy finalist for the third consecutive year, finishing second in 2010 and third in 2009.

Sucks he won't have playoff experience anytime soon but at least he's given an opportunity to develop his game on the islanders

Way more exciting watching on Versus. The audio on CBC muffles out so much crowd noise and makes it seem like the fans aren't cheering as loud.

Yeah, I think he was the one that took the 2nd shot. I can't remember who was the one
that drove to the net though.

No, Seabrook was back in.

Speaking of which...

Blackhawks with Seabrooks in the lineup: 0-4
Blackhawks with John Scott in the lineup 3-0

No, John Scott was not in the lineup yesterday.

Wow BOS & MTL had game 6 in Montreal yesterday, and tonight they're playing game 7 in Boston?

fliptuner 04-27-2011 09:36 AM

I was also wondering why they would do that. I mean it's the playoffs, shouldn't they get at least a day between games?
