Nothing but respect for Willie. Few players have bled and sacrificed for this team like he has.

Armind 08-25-2010 03:34 PM

Damn, I guess we're all gonna miss his long stick.

sonick 08-25-2010 03:52 PM

No way Canucks could've come close to that offer.

trip 08-25-2010 03:54 PM

they freed willie :(

b0unce. [?] 08-25-2010 04:08 PM

We saw how much it hurt us when he was gone :(
Hopefully our D stays healthy this season! ^^

A lot of people failed you, but I think you might be right.

Mitchell would be a great captain. I think he should have been instead of Lu. If you are saying that now because of the uncertainty of his career, then I agree. We need a captain who will be here for a while. Not someone who may be out next year, or the following season.

This is another reason why Kes gets my vote.

Greenstoner 08-25-2010 07:16 PM

lets get some fucking hockey going already !!!!!!!!!

Armind 08-25-2010 07:25 PM

Fuck, October come sooner already. I want my hockey games back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I failed him, but thanked you. The difference between your post and his is that despite your unusual opinion, at least you backed it up with some critical thinking. This world needs more people who can do that.

So... Who else hates sportsnet for their relatively unreliable sourcing?

invader 08-25-2010 09:10 PM

Wow so many Willie Humpers,

There was a reason he was an alternate. If he had remained, Kesler and Hank would rank higher than him on getting the captaincy, that's if Luongo releases it.

6thGear. 08-25-2010 10:08 PM

Great..we have to play against him now...

This is the network that employed Eklund on trade deadline day one year. Imo, the only person on that network with any sort of credibility in regards to the rumours is Nick Kypreos

So what do you all think of our old friend Raffi Torres (Canuck killer)? I hear he's the one to play with the Sedins now until Burrows gets back.

For $1m, he might be worth it

Razor Ramon HG 08-25-2010 11:24 PM

19G for 1M? I'd take it.

watch the sedins make torres into a 30+ goal scorer,

and then he will ask for a big raise next year.

It will most likely be Sammy that will get the go ahead on the first line until Burrows comes back.

I don't think Torres will get that spot in the very beginning but with AV's juggling, who really knows. He'll probably get a shot at it but I don't think it'll happen right away at least.

i remember one year they did a 'trade deadline pizza party' where they were just trying way too hard to make it cool. i remember watching kipreos try to say something important while shoving pizza in his face pretending to enjoy it....

.... and then flipping over to TSN to watch the most professional hockey show on tv with like 15+ of the top hockey analysts on tv in the studio breaking news.

i swear sportsnet gets their breaking news from watching TSN

Not really racist! 08-25-2010 11:36 PM

Sigh, Kings blueline is mad stacked, if they ever get Kovy ( I think him and NJ are having good talks ) which they probably won't, we'll be fucked.

Having to play against Willie is gonna suck. Hopefully Hammer and Ballard can match their firepower.

Our D is pretty damn sick atm :D
Ballard, Edler, Ehrhoff, Hamhuis, Salo... and then you can name the 'not so big' dmen :P

AzNightmare 08-26-2010 01:14 AM

Canucks D is pretty solid too.
I would cross off Salo though... since he never seems to be around :(

Tim Budong 08-26-2010 01:21 AM

Willie Mitchell falls into a rare bunch when it comes to dmen.
not too many are that great with their stick and reliable on the backend. He can easily jump into ANY line up, match up against the top guys of ANY OPPONENT and command 28+minutes of icetime per game.

LA's D is so stacked. but so is ours LETS GET IT ON!@
