Kesler's doing it all......... that is all.... his wristers back at least
I don't think any of the players in the locker room need a talking to.. they know what needs to be done... execution is the problem.. yeah.. Rinne's just supernatural.
please guys, lets stop quoting regular season stats, those stats don't mean shit in the playoffs, totally different game, just ask the Caps.
Aside from game 1 of of Chicago series, the team hasn't shown much dominance, pretty much every game up until now has been a toss up. Yes, we're outshouting nashville every game, what did you expect? nashville to run and gun? they play a defensive style, have a world class goalie that will keep them in the game and all they hope for is a few lucky bounces to go in the other net.
I certainly hope nashville will run out of horseshoes and we win the next game, but i'm greatly concerned at our prospects at the stanley cup. we can't continue to make the stupid defensive mistakes and we have to find a way to finish on our chances. damn nucks, u gonna keep me awake for the next few nights, let's make it worth while, gl boys.
Nashville shouldn't even be here, look at all the bullshit goals they've scored..fucking ridiculous. We should've closed this out tonight regardless, now we got more travel when San Jose can possibly close out Detroit tomorrow night. Sedin's are still failing to show up, seems like Kesler is the only one that really wants to win.
Fuck
I don't mind the knock on Sedins, because they more than deserve it, but Kesler shouldn't be singled out for effort and heart. In the offensive end, I'm seeing the same level of compete from our complimentary players:
Raymond
Hansen
Burrows
Higgins
Lapierre
I really can't say enough about the Sedins skill-wise, but they absolutely have no grit that's required in a playoff setting. That's why their good shifts are few and far between. Posted via RS Mobile
I am pretty sure none of the Canucks wanted to go back to Nashville. This is the NHL and any team can win if a few bounces don't go your way. Again, I am dissapointed and wish I did not have to see another game against the Preds, but as long as they win each series, I really don't care how they got there.
All quite true.
One of my biggest beefs about this whole series is that Nashville plays a depressingly boring style of hockey. They have almost no offensive skill, so their game is predicated on capitalizing on a turnover or banking goals off skates and brainfarting defensemen, rather than trying to create.
I "hated" seeing Sharp and Kane skating into the zone with the puck krazy-glued to their sticks in the Chi series but you knew they would try to match skill with skill, not try to put you to sleep like the Preds do. It's not at all entertaining. It may work, but it's the kind of shit that killed the game in the early 2000s.

agreed.
thing is that every series is different.. it is like saying the canucks would have been able to beat anaheim easily because (and if) they beat nashville, the beat a team who beat the other team.. it doesn't work like that... nashville plays a style that will bring any team to 6 games in a best of 7 series... they won't go home without a battle... so people who are worried about the canucks in the next round because they didn't sweep and crush the preds, aren't giving the canucks a fair evaluation.
You take one series at a time, and you focus on one team at a time. Some teams may have certain weaknesses that a few teams can take advantage of, while others can't.
lastly, it must be hard on Lu to face 10-15 shots in 3 periods of play only to have an odd shot from the slot that was coughed up by his D man go in the back of the net. Think of the goals that went in tonight. first goal breakaway shorthanded.. can't blame any goalie on any breakaway goal... 2nd goal.. total fluke.. 3rd was bad a perfct shot.. and 4th was defensive breakdown right in the slot.
I play some goal myself.. and I rather be Rinne than Luongo. I like getting peppered early in a game so I can get into it. As long as I can see the shot and the 2nd 3rd chances are eliminated I am more than happy to face 30+ a game.
Lastly, the media makes things a lot more than it is... Sure it sucks to travel back to Nashville, but these guys have sleep doctors and every kind of professional aids you can think of.. From ice baths for lactic acid to vitmain Iv's etc... They will be ready to go. Unless they are injured, they should be able to recover in 1-2 days of rest. The good thing about the Canucks is that they can roll 4 lines. Their top 2 line won't get as tired as other teams. And the way the Sedins have been playing/not exerting 100%, they should never get tired lol. But it does look like Edler was somewhat dragging his ass tonight.
no doubt, sedin's had me cringing every time they were falling/flopping on the ice ALL game. I can only hope their injured, cause playing like this in the playoffs while you're healthy just says something.
I know Henrik's injured, but not sure about Daniel.
But with all the hype they have, they should be able to do much better than
this if they're just slightly injured.

In terms of a series, yes, up 3-1 and lose the 5th game is kind of ...whatever. Problem I have is that, again, we dominated the game and their goalie saved them from elimination. As Soundy stated, no grit from the twins is getting annoying. Peeeling off checks, not finishing...come on. It's the playoffs, they have to get up for this shit. It's the gritty guys that are making the difference for us right now.

you know what i want to see? either of the sedins actually dish out a hit. rather than stand people up and shove them, how about an actual fucking body check?
sportscasters have preached all year long about how strong the sedins are and how well they control the puck. all i've seen lately is falling on their asses and getting rubbed out every single game. sigh... i'm a fan of theirs but cmon now... if shit's hitting the fan, ADAPT! create some fucking space for yourselves. the skill-plays aren't cutting it right now.. at least, not in this series.
Even though I am pretty choked about the game tonight, did you all think that the Canucks would sweep or win every series in 5 games? I know you all are emotionally attached to the team, but you have to remember that the team on the other side is battling it out for their life in the playoffs. Look at the Sharks last night. Do you think they wanted to play game 5?

The Canucks have a few injured players, I think winning asap is crucial to get as many days possible to rest up before next round. It really doesn't help that SanJose is capable of closing their series, and that the Eastern conference is already done. I just hope Detroit prolongs the series and ends up dragging it longer than Canucks series. I'm somewhat relieved Samuelsson just injured himself out of the game. His play was horrible on the first goal, and he's just been disappointing the entire playoffs besides game 1 vs Chicago. And if he's injured, he might as well just stay off the ice. The games are way too tight. Any injured player that will be liable for mistakes is capable of costing us the game.

Probably because he tells it like it is and knows hockey better than you two dipshits? People respect his opinions, not like you two dipshits? He has a solid income, not like you two dipshits?
It's painful watching the Sedins play right now - they can't defend, can't hit, can't make passes, can't skate, can't hold the puck, can't win battles in the corners, can't stand on their feet when checked, did I miss anything? -7 combined? Are you friggin' kidding me?
and Edler - wtf is wrong with this kid. Every playoff series he starts off being a beast, throwing big hits and taking big shots from the points, and then POOF, he just disappears, and not only that, he starts making dumb plays and cough up the puck like it's hot potatoe or something.
I think our 3rd and 4th line are doing fine, at least to what they were expected to do. Kesler is carrying the 2nd line AND the team right now, and our 1st line is not only horrible offensively, they're having negative impacts by playing ZERO defense.
For fucks sake - if you're injured and can't contribute positively and are struggling defensively, DON'T PLAY. Case in point - Sammeulsson and Henrik Sedin.
Our team is fucking soft...
and AV - PLEASE PLAY BALLARD... I don't know why he doesn't play him and it's pissing me off that AV's not changing his strategy when obviously it's not working right now. Never been an AV fan and wanted him gone back in 2008/2009, and his "coaching" skills this year, with this team, is proving more to me that he's just not that good of a coach.

So pissed right now. Urgh!
You're complaining the team is soft and you want to put in Ballard over Rome who is 20 pounds bigger than Ballard.
Let me rephrase - SOME of our FORWARDS are friggin' soft. The Sedins have been falling on their asses throughout the playoffs and can't seem to at least finish their checks.
Well, sometimes weight =/= toughness or the willingness to battle.
I think Bieksa's one of our lightest dmen, yet he's one of our tougher Dmen.
That being said, I think the Canucks is soft because of our top line just not showing any grit or
passion to battle for the pucks the way Kesler does. Seriously, so annoying to watch the twins play.
They should mix it up and drive to the net. They're getting way too predictable.
Even a sudden rush to split between the D might catch them off guard and work. Just try something...

It hurts my eyes to watch the Sedins right now. It's like they're skating in mud, can't make a pass, can't get a shot through, still doing all that no-look, behind the back passes that the other teams' D-men already know about, and yeah, simply not adapting to the playoffs' style of hockey that requires you take a few more crosschecks and grabs for you to score.
Rest assured that after this season we'll see WAY more Kesler jerseys than either of the Sedins'...
I"m also sick of hearing both of them saying the same bullshit in post-game interviews, that they thought they played well/good and just need to "get better". If they can't admit that they're having a shitty time in the playoffs now, they will never get better. The first step to improving yourself is to recognize that you have FAILED at something, that's when you'll dig deep and try to work around it. Without that, they'll never be any better.
Can't say I'm a Sedins' fan right now because they're just not doing it for the team, and it's making fans look stupid and feel embarrassed for supporting them. I would feel really bad for Kesler if we don't at least get to the cup finals this year because he is just working his ass off right now, carrying this team on his back, doing everything he can at both ends of the ice. Kesler deserves better than this.

I'm guessing at a time like this, the loss of Malhotra really did make a huge difference.
Who would have known the Sedins would just shit the bed. One man can win the series, but I don't know if one man can win the cup...
