I'm sure they know high stick is the spot to beat him. Kes was successful and said he was aware of it, even though his sweet spot is to wrist it high glove. Like you said, with the speed of the game it's impossible to get it up there all the time but I think when they shoot hard and low, they're more looking for a rebound. If they hit him in the chest, they were pressured to shoot and it was not accurate or Rinne's position was really good.

Soundy 05-08-2011 11:22 AM

Since the refs' whistles have gone MIA, maybe it's time to get our grinders to start running over Rinne...

fliptuner 05-08-2011 11:25 AM

Gotta give it to SOB for picking up on that so quickly and taking full advantage. 1 minor penalty for all the cheap hits he dished out for most of the 3rd. I was hoping some of our guys would do the same.

Spidey 05-08-2011 11:53 AM

I rather have the refs let them play then have the game decided by constant PP's. It seems that the refs are only going to call penalties that are injury causing, or creates/negates a scoring chance.

I think the sedins are playing well offensively. They are doing exactly what they have been doing in the regular season... they're not physical players and as much as we would like them to hit they're not going to be hitting anyone. They're just not getting the bounces right now. We also can't blame them for not shooting either... if you look at their shots per game they're shooting at the same rate as they were in the regular season, but their shooting % is significantly down. If we compare the Sedins to what Kesler is doing for us offensively, of course they will let us down as nobody but Joel Ward can compare :D. But if we compare the Sedins to what the Sedins have done offensively all year, they are playing their game. They just need a little luck.

The only issue is that they are not playing well defensively. I think a lot of this has to do with burrows joining kesler for a series of games as I believe they rely on burrows a lot in the defensive zone, winning puck battles and getting the puck out of the zone. Even if they were the recipient of a couple of bad line changes, -7 and not producing on the powerplay will not win us the cup.

If only they can catch a little break, get a lucky bounce and score a couple of goals...

iwantaskyline 05-08-2011 12:57 PM

Anyone know where I can get a Kesler White 3rd jersey? (stick in a rink jersey)

Harvey Specter 05-08-2011 01:41 PM

So pissed off about last nights lost. It's safe to say that the Sedins have packed it in and are on another planet and Edler/Ehrhoff must be our worst defensive pairing right now. Actually Edler has been absolutely awful in this series but I suspect he's injured because he played so good in the first round. I just hope we finish this series off tomorrow.

You mean the 40th anny one? If so Canucks Team Store has them, just went to buy some jersey yesterday but Kesler is running low on size choices though.

Erhoff is one of our BEST defencemen

"Defensive pairing", keyword is "pairing", did I single out Erhoff?

Swedish national hockey team. Same thing. Could it just be coincidence?

It's just the way the Sedins are. I'm not complaining. Without them, we would not have had such a successful season.

Schneider in net on Monday just because????? I think Luigi needs a good rest. The guy has been working so hard he deserves a rest.

Did the Sedins not win the Gold Medal at the Olympics in 2006? I agree Kesler would probably be a better choice for Captain but making him Captain changes nothing. Anything he would say or do with a "C" he will do say or do with an "A" on his jersey. They made Henrik the Captain after winning the Hart and the Art Ross, nothing wrong with that choice either.

Tim Budong 05-08-2011 03:44 PM

I like henrik's approach to captaincy. He may not say or do much, but he handled himself pretty well throughout the year. Behind closed doors, everyone is a leader on their good will. It's a special bond this team has. It's not easy to replicate that.

You can have kesler with the c, it doesn't change the fact that the twins are not scoring right now.

spoon.ek9 05-08-2011 03:57 PM

go wings go! extend the series more plz! canucks need rest!

I doubt it. The play offs are an entirely different beast than the regular season and just because they thrived in the regular season doesn't mean it translates to post season.

Play offs is where the whistles get put away (for the most part), and where battling is encouraged. That's why President's Trophy winners aren't necessarily regaded as the best hockey team as opposed to Stanley Cup winners.

For the Sedins, that means that they're gonna get hacked, slashed, jabbed and cross checked with less penalty frequency for their opponents; and their usual method of earning space with cute passes and plays will yield far more limited results than they experienced in the regular season.

That being said, I still vote against them being split up:

IMO, they're barely useful now, I'm guessing they'll be even more less effective split up. They're definitely better players together. They just have to find it in themselves to learn how to mix their game up and not just win games based on pure skill factor.

If Sharks win tonight and Canucks win tomorrow Western Final starts Wednesday.

If game 7 needed in Canucks/Pred Western Final would be Saturday.

no time for recover

MR_BIGGS 05-08-2011 04:22 PM

Last game was so crucial to get some rest.

Long series are going to start taking a toll on the team if they haven't already. So much travel for the Canucks, god they sure don't make it easy on themselves.

shawn79 05-08-2011 04:27 PM

pavelski game winner for tonights game!

spoon.ek9 05-08-2011 04:47 PM

1-0 Sharks after 1.

saucywoman 05-08-2011 04:59 PM

Even though we lost I thought it was a fairly decent game. It was nailbiting and I don't regret buying a ticket and coming down for it at all... I hope to god we win tomorrow night tho

I heard Roger's Arena was booked until Saturday, so either way the series would have to start on Saturday and no earlier

dbaz 05-08-2011 05:36 PM

bertuzzi needs to stop saying his team will win in the playoffs it seems to come back and haunt him. he apparently did it again in an interview today.

MR_BIGGS 05-08-2011 05:37 PM

Sharks 2-1...

Wings are far from healthy while the Sharks looks 100% healthy right now.
