game 7...this is interesting :)

rb 05-10-2011 07:07 PM

I was kinda hoping that Detroit would win with some extremely flukey goals but not like this. They really took it to the sharks in the last 10 minutes or so.

SkinnyPupp 05-10-2011 07:22 PM

Should be interesting to see how their performance differs on the road

Harvey Specter 05-10-2011 07:23 PM

Wow @ the Sharks. Game 7 should be a dandy.

68style 05-10-2011 07:30 PM

I'd way rather play San Jose... with their fragile mental side, disappearing scorers like Marleau and Thornton, questionable d-men (Boyle is all offense) and a goalie that I think is overrated at times. Plus their top guy Clowe is out.

Detroit is dangerous man... they don't panic... and having a backside featuring Lidstrom, Kronwall and Rafalski is quite dangerous nevermind having Zetterberg, Datsyuk and all these secondary guys that do well against us..........

Not to mention travel times for the teams... way longer trip to Detroit.

RiceIntegraRS 05-10-2011 07:37 PM

^ i was thinking the exact same thing. If Wings win Game 7 they will have all the momentum in the world going into the next round. Im hoping Sharks win by fluke so it gives them no confidence going into the next round. The only 2 guys im afraid of on the Sharks is Couture and Heatley(kinda has Luongo's numer)

well, only three other teams in NHL history have ever come back from 3-0 deficits. odds are sharks will win game 7. great game by detroit!

I personally hope the Sharks win Thursday night in game 7.

Less travel and same time zones would greatly benefit the Canucks.

People have been shitting on the Sedins and not to make excuses for them, but first they faced Keith and Seabrook in the first round than Weber and Suter (although as the series went on they defended Kesler's line) . That is insane! Those 4 defensemen play a punishing style and wear you down. Is Boyle going to do that against the Sedins? Puck possession will be key in that series because Sharks like to hold on to the puck just as much as the Canucks do. Granted Douglas Murray is a big body dmen and likes to hit, i think the Sedins can produce against the Sharks. Season series doesn't mean anything but I think we won it vs the Sharks 3-1.

hes probably right, i heard that the sharks are more popular than the warriors

TheKingdom2000 05-10-2011 08:16 PM

I want Detroit.
It would be a more exciting series imo.

I would love to see our D take out Datsyuk when he trys to dangle in our zone.

shawn79 05-10-2011 08:18 PM

kesler will show up in motorcity in front of his frineds & family and prove to the nhl why he is the selke trophy winner.

cliffhanger33 05-10-2011 08:20 PM

Check out the similarity with 1992-1994 Bure and 2009-2011 Kesler.
Three-year playoff windows from each. Bure from 1992-94, Kesler from 2009-11:

First playoff year Second playoff year Third playoff year

Kesler: 10GP: 2G-2A-4PTS 12GP: 1G-9A-10PTS 13GP: 5G-10A-15PTS

Bure: 13GP: 6G-4A-10PTS 12GP: 5G-7A-12PTS 24GP: 16G-15A-31PTS

Of course, Kesler's three year breakthrough took a bit longer than Bure, it's still a pretty similar ascensions. Bure never suffered through a nine-game goalless drought - but like Bure's, Kesler's was definitely worth the little lag. Dam kesler, performances like these some would say only occur once every 17 years.

NOt saying Kesler is like Bure, thats wrong, coz theyre totally different players with different style played in different eras.
HOWEVER, it does exemplify in my opinion that it takes a pretty dam special effort and heart to get into the NHL's final four, like how Bure pulled it off in 1994 and now Keslord.

all i can think of is what team can the green men make fun of more..... I think the sharks are the best bet.

spoon.ek9 05-10-2011 08:48 PM

More travel time will give canucks more of an edge because they are used to the long travel, opposed to other teams because they travel the exact same distances.

that's pretty true. our team would be used to travel a lot more. it would still be tiring either way though.

trancehead 05-10-2011 09:25 PM

the wings have been travelling long distance all while winning numerous cups. it won't be an issue for them

RRxtar 05-10-2011 09:29 PM

Sharks: Niemi again. We've seen what goalies can do to the Canucks in the playoffs
Wings: They ARE that good. They are a team that can get it done when they are healthy. And they are.

I am hoping for the Sharks.

Watching sportsnet right now. I saw on the ticker said Canucks recall Eddie Lack.
What's up with Corey?

wings aren't healthy lol. dastyuk has a major wrist injury that is prohibiting him from taking face offs for the majority of the game. he only took face offs in game 6 when they were down 1-0. its truly amazing that hes putting up the points he is. franzen may have torn his acl/mcl again as he just cant skate anymore and had to be replaced. franzen is one of Detroits playoff heroes. it seems like the the guy scores as many goals in the playoffs as he does during the regular season and hes no 10 goal regular season scrub. ontop of that is the injuries that are not being told or shown to media.(but all teams have unknown injuries)
