Forwards: A wash. I think SJ has a bit more depth but Detroit is a proven, veteran squad and I'd never bet against Datsyuk. SJ will be more physical but the Canucks can play that style too. Plus the Sharks have an enforcer in Ben Eager that plays 5 minutes a game at best. That's one less spot on the roster you have to worry about scoring.
Defense: I would rather play Boyle, Demers, Murray, White, Wallin, Vlasic any day over Lidstrom, Rafalski, Kronwall, Stuart, Salei, Ericsson. Both are balanced but the Wings have three guys that are a #1 D man and three more than are a #2-4 at worst.
Goal: I think the Canucks could take Jimmy Howard and Niemi is amazing. The season series says different but playoff time, I think Niemi has it and Howard isn't there yet.
Plus travel...SJ is a much better destination than Detroit. Not only because SJ is closer but Detroit is just a shithole to be in.
I think we'll have a war on our hands if we get either opponent but I would probably rather play the Sharks than the Wings.
the call ups wont play any prominent role if any. they are simply called up in case of freak injuries. meaning the canucks don't have to find them in some secluded bar and pull them away from partying during the ahl off season to come fill in for someone as they will be with the canucks. its really just more people in the press box.

We can wish this and hope that but in the end, nothing we say or do is gonna change the outcome of there next game or even the rest of the playoffs. Im actually done trying to predict anything. Im just gonna enjoy the ride and watch the everygame as it goes along.
As a taxpayer, I'd be seriously pissed at forking over another $25m to keep a professional team in town for another year just for the enjoyment of about 15 to 20k fans. This is probably in addition to whatever subsidies and concession already made to have the team / arena in the first place.
glendale's population can't be that large or affulent enough to afford this...
