The same can kind of be said for Kesler, cracking a team with the Nazzy,Bert,BMO and the improving Sedins..he played the checking center role to build his game. It added more depth to his game, it groomed him into a selke finalist.
CoHo has lots to learn, and has an even bigger mountain to climb with the dept the Canucks have.
I don't doubt his offensive skillset is great, but the Canucks have tons of these, if he can come up big defensively, then he will crack the canucks lineup no problem.
Its like the Raymond/Grabner debate. Guess who showed up defensively?

Sequin is really showing up in his limite ice time in the playoffs. I doubt kessel can even do that at his age right.

I think a lot of coho's development lies in the hands of AV. There's no room on the first and second lines for coho so he's not playing with the same level of talent that he's probably accustomed to. AV also loves to have his bottom 6 full of grinding, energy players and one mistake basically means that you sit on the bench for the rest of the game.
A player like coho needs to have a longer leash and he needs to be playing with skilled players so he can be creative and make plays. There's no way he can play to his potential if he's afraid to make a mistake, which is what I think we are seeing right now. If you put any top draft pick in any recent year onto the 4th line, where one mistake means you sit and maybe not even play the next game, and play them 5 minutes a game of course they aren't going to be able to show what they are capable of.
If you put any of our other players in the exact same situation, we're not going to be impressed with them either.
