we got momentum going to game 4

aint even mad

pure.life 05-20-2011 07:48 PM

I would give money to MG for him to get fined tonight for making choice words for the refs and the NHL. U can't win if the penalties are this lobsided. Worse is the quality of the calls. Hell, I would've just slashed the shit out of SJ's superstars and get away with a double minor so they'd be out a player

Iceman_2K 05-20-2011 07:49 PM

probably like he's been playing all along....honestly, Luongo kinda did it to himself by getting such a long contract. Had it been a shorter contract with a smaller amount, I don't think it woulda been as bad. A game like this coulda been his chance to change some of the perception, seeing as he hasn't been seeing as much as work as Niemi or Renne did in the previous two series. Even with the loss, Luongo still has let in the least number of goals amongst the 4 goalies in these conference finals. Tonights game was alright - we knew San Jose was going to come out hard, and I think the Canucks gave the 1st period to let San Jose get that out of their system before fighting back. The penalties were not the best calls, i'm sure Alain is going to have a few words about it. Third period was a good period for Vancouver. The Canucks should finish this in 5. At least we didn't get embarrassed and blown out of the water like San Jose did in game 2.

van19 05-20-2011 07:54 PM

Management needs to say something. I would pitch in for the fine lol

This. Bitching about the reffing isn't going to do anything for anyone. They just have to look forward to game 4, and deal with what kind of changes they need to make for replacing two defensemen.

cliffhanger33 05-20-2011 07:55 PM

In a way I'm relieved with the final result. Just when San JOse thought that they would destroy us, we took all their pride away in the third period. This just shows how hard we can play, of course against all those lopsided officiation.
I hope Romey is okay =(, in a way, the hit he took gave us all those advantages.

AzNightmare 05-20-2011 07:57 PM

Why are we all just focusing on the officiating rather than how Canucks decided to not show up the first 20 minutes,
and was already down 3-0 before they finally stepped on the ice.

On PK sucked, our 5 on 5 sucked, even our PP sucked until the last PP.

The officiating wasn't as bad as Game 6 in Chicago.

punkwax 05-20-2011 07:58 PM

We saved face. Didn't roll over.

Sharks were the better team tonight, overall. That's it.

Early one Sunday. Sharks spent a lot of energy coming on strong. Hope we can take advantage with the start time.

Definitely the hate with Lu is his contract and the way he deals with the media. I think he also might have done himself over by having such an amazing first year with the Canucks when he had 47 wins and outright won games for the team. Despite his flaws I still think he is a better goalie now than in past.

We need Ben Eager back!

Well, it's because he makes a lot of money.
His performance the first year was amazing.
But the years following that was a setback.
He's better than the past few years now, but obviously his best year's still 2007.

SkinnyPupp 05-20-2011 08:10 PM

Next game is 3am for me :fuuuuu:

Guess I'll avoid spoilers and DL it later

Iceman_2K 05-20-2011 08:10 PM

He's better than the string of goalies that we've had since Kirk McLean was traded.

Bonka 05-20-2011 08:12 PM

That's the funny thing though. Do you excuse Lu if everything else was the same, but his pay was a lot less? I wouldn't.

Following the Canucks this long I'm at ease with Lu in even when he craps up. I'd be worried if the goalie has to constantly bail out the team just so they can scrape a win together. With Lu, he compliments the team. He's an expensive 10 million dollar compliment, but fact remains he's the best goalie the Canucks have ever had. The owners and management was willing to pony up so what's done is done.

Nobody wants to have to be bailed out by their goalie. But when it NEVER happens, it's kind of an issue. We don't want to be reminded of the Cloutier days, when Marc Crawford could just press the Goal Button they seemed to have so they could win games 6-5 or 5-4.

pure.life 05-20-2011 08:14 PM

Coles notes on AV's press conference:

No comment about the penalties. THought canucks were pretty well disciplined. No more comment because the NHL will slap him with a fine. He wants to keep his money.

Ehrhoff and Rome are doubtful for game 4. Both could be out next game

Luongo will start Game 4

Sharks coach:

Couture will be back for next game

Where do you download past games? torrents?

seakrait 05-20-2011 08:19 PM

so who's in to replace Erhoff and Rome? Alberts and hopefully Ballard?

Iceman_2K 05-20-2011 08:20 PM

I don't think San Jose won the way they wanted to win. They held off Vancouver with a 3 goal lead for a long time, and in the end, it almost coulda went to OT. After being humiliated in game 2, and now winning only by 1 from a team that fought back, didn't pick any fights, had some peculiar penalty calls, and was even keel through the game, i think psychologically, San Jose is still rattled.
