I had the Bolts beating the Bruins in 6, hopefully i'm right

darkfroggy 05-21-2011 12:28 PM

Luongo didn't even play THAT bad.

0.895 SV% is not terrible for an off-night, Niemi only had 0.900% SV. Yet nobody is crowding around and saying Niemi sucks, etc.

Whenever it's a 3+ goal game, people start blaming Luongo like no tomorrow.

niemi made some incredible saves while we were on the powerplay.
we could have easily tied it up if niemi was playing horrible

yes but niemi does get too much praise than he deserves.

^ and yet, we still got 2 goals on the 5 min powerplay. anyone who watched the regular season will not be surprised our 5 on 3 is ineffective. we literally had ONE 5 on 3 goal through the whole season and it was against the bottom feeding oilers.

Bonka 05-21-2011 12:44 PM

The years after McLean deteriorated and we had the likes of Potvin, Burke, Irbe, Snow, Cloutier, etc, etc try to fill in the #1 spot, and the fans calling out the team to find that pinnacle goalie. We got him in Luongo, dumped a bunch of money to keep him and fans still complain.

Like I said before, even if Luongo wins the cup with the Canucks, the minds of the fans are so cemented in that nothing will change the way the haters will see Luongo. Really the way he came in and stole the show the first season really did him over it seems.

Agreed. Just like Olympic Gold, Luongo will have nothing to do with the win, he'll just be along for the ride....

no suspension for McGinn?

kirk who?

Luongo already owns basically every stat that matters for Canuck goalies and he will have every stat here once he's done

Why do we revere Mclean when he's won the same that Luongos won? nothing.

Mclean had one season where he got over 28 wins, he's NOT as good of a goalie as Luongo thats a certainty, just because he was part of a team that went to the finals, people like remember him as if he had actually won somthing..

It is because mcLean was a good guy.. like someone mentioned earlier... lu has been a prick to the media at times and in the past..

Hondaracer 05-21-2011 01:44 PM

well do you want your superstar goalie to be cocky/confident or a push over/media darling?

personally i couldnt care less either way but i think alot of people read way too much into off-ice persona

And i hate making arguments for Lu when i have a Lu avatar because it makes it seem like i'm just riding his dick lol

Atlanta Thrashers fans burn a sign hung by Winnipeg Jets supporters, which the Thrashers took off a nearby overpass, as they rally in opposition to the possible sale and move of the Thrahers, in a parking lot in front of Philips Arena, where the Thrashers play, Saturday, May 21, 2011, in Atlanta.

I was too young to remember the 94 run but didn't McLean always come to give his 100% every game? Luongo is a proven regular season goalie, he has shown he can win us games in the playoffs but the previous 2 Chicago series in 09 and 10 were brutal

as i have said many times before, it is because he got us within 2 goals of winning the stanley cup.

until lu can better that, he will never be as good as mclean.

Fixed.

Luongo is a far superior goalie. There's no argument. Stats are facts.

If lu gets within one goal of winning the stanley cup and loses he will never get the same respect in this town, its cup or bust for him

Stats are stats

Lu has shown he can dominate in the regular season, definitely not in the playoffs. Enough said

shawn79 05-21-2011 02:52 PM

btw has anyone seen these new era canucks snapbacks in town?

Canucks win game 4 if they stay out of the penalty box, score on power play, hit the shit out of Marleau, heatley, and Thornton. D men need to be active and step up on offense. Bieksa and Hamhuis, Salo and Edler, step up boys! Sedins, get back on the scoring sheet!

Hell ya excited for tmr's early game, gna wake up "early" ;) instead of sleeping in
