he has been skating already so I'm sure he will play. I have a feeling Rome is out tho. This is the Stanley cup finals they will play no questions asked this is a once in a life time experience and they will do anything to win.

Vancouver-Boston would be EPIC.

BUTTTTTTTTT

For the Sedin's sake, I would rather face Tampa Bay. Their defense is no where the calibre, Boston's is.

Look at the last 3 rounds for the Sedins:

Round 1: shut down by Seabrook/Keith

Round 2: shudown by Weber/Suter

Round 3: shutdown by Boyl---OH WAITTT SEDINS LIT THEM THE FUCK UP

If we play Boston, Sedins have to face the tower that is Chara...not good.

murd0c 05-25-2011 06:11 PM

I just got sad there's only a max of 8 NHL games left until Oct. I never want this year to end dammit :(

So, anyone know offhand who won the season series between the Canucks vs. Boscum and Tampon?

Shit, found it... Boston beat us 3-1 in our only game with them... Tampa beat us 5-4 in OT. Ugh.

Canucks vs. Bruins or Bolts? Pick your poison in NHL final
Boston would offer a contrast in styles with tough play, say analysts, while Lightning play an offensive game

VANCOUVER — Opinions are mixed when it comes to which team is the best matchup for the Vancouver Canucks in the Stanley Cup final.

With a 3-2 double overtime victory over the San Jose Sharks in Game 5 of the Western Conference final, the Canucks await the winner from the East, where the Boston Bruins hold a 3-2 series edge over the Lightning. Game 6 is set for Wednesday in Tampa Bay (5 p.m., faceoff Vancouver time).

History offers little as Vancouver played the Lightning and Bruins just once in the regular season. The Canucks lost 5-4 in overtime to Tampa Bay on Dec. 11 and 3-1 to Boston on Feb. 26, with both games being played at Rogers Arena.

“You would think Tampa Bay because they are more of an offensive team,” said Hockey Night In Canada's Jim Hughson prior to Game 5. “They have two lines that can score and what that means to me is they would be more apt to open it up and as we've seen this season, Vancouver just picks those teams apart.”

Yes, Boston plays a more controlled game, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing, say some.

“The Bruins game is getting the puck deep and establishing the forecheck and they don't deviate much so I think that plays to the strength of Vancouver,” said Versus analyst Darren Pang. “Vancouver plays such a strong five-man unit game and is so good at taking away time and space and have such good gap control at all areas of the ice that it would be a matchup that plays to the Canucks' strength. Tampa Bay is more difficult because they do so many different things.”

Tampa Bay and Boston are one-two in the playoffs in goals scored with 54 and 53, respectively, through 16 games and are tied for fewest goals against with 40 each. Vancouver has scored 50 goals and allowed 46 in 18 games.

“No matter who it is, the Cup winner is in this series, the West is better than the East,” said TSN's Ray Ferraro. “My concern with Boston is they play like Nashville and have a top line so that would be a grind-it-out series. Tampa's more up and down.”

ESPN columnist and Hockey Night in Canada panelist Pierre Lebrun was so bold to suggest a Canucks sweep of the Bruins, whose specialty team play has been laughable through the first three rounds of the post-season.

Vancouver owns the best power play, connecting on 17 of 59 opportunities for a success rate of 28.6. Boston has scored all of four goals on the man advantage in 56 opportunities for 7.1 per cent. The Canucks kill off 80.9 per cent of the penalties they take while the Bruins are slightly better at 83 per cent.

Tampa Bay has a 22.2 success rate on the PP and has the best penalty kill at 93.2 per cent.

“It'll be a lot for Boston to handle and the Bruins struggles on the power play is a big mismatch for the Canucks,” he said. “ I wouldn't be surprised if Vancouver took it in four.”

Chara is no Seabrook/Keith, and even in that series the twins were able to produce, not to the extent of the SJ series, but they had a few pts.

I'd rather play against Roloson and the weaker D than Tim Thomas with the better D.

Tim Thomas > Roloson
