Artists do that every city they go to.

woob 05-25-2011 08:23 PM

^ It's called pandering to the home town fans. It would be really cool to see an artist wear a Canucks sweater when he/she ISN'T in Vancouver.

why would they even have to move UFC though? Games 1 and 2 are in Vancouver and can be held probably Tues and Thursday and have a 2 day layoff then Game 3 Sunday in TB or Bos

NBC has a huge say in when the finals start. NBC would like to avoid a Tues start because they have 2 huge ratings winners in America's Got Talent and The Voice scheduled for Tues. that they made commitments to their advertisers. Like it or not, for the NHL to succeed as a whole they need to expand their US television figures to appeal to advertisers and future television contracts.

I don't care when they start next week.

Its the fucking CANUCKS STANLEY CUP FINALS!!!

hey, Chara is just one tall dude when we have two Sedins who can skate and doing all these fancy passes/ shots :fullofwin:

TouringTeg 05-25-2011 08:38 PM

Damn ABC. Agree they will want another Sunday day game. I will bet on Wed/Fri and bumping the dates on Supertramp and Bruno Mars.

I liked how Kelly Hrudey commented on the depth of the Canucks in the post game commentary after watching Boston/Tampa in person. Doesn't matter which team we face Canucks looks realllly good right now.

I think we're a great team and all... but I think fans are now starting to run the risk of underestimating their opponents. Despite all of Chara's downside's everyone's discussed, he still has a lot of upside that needs to be addressed.

* He's got the biggest bomb of a shot at the point (Canucks will have to specially address that like they specially addressed denying Weber's point shot).

* Long reach. One of the greatest Sedin cycle killers is the ability to shut down or at the very least impede passing lanes.

* Size. Kesler will have a bigger battle in front of the net for screens.

* Physical. Even though it's supposedly accidental, ask Pacioretty.

SkinnyPupp 05-25-2011 08:54 PM

Yeah it's bad news for the Sedins if they have to face Chara

highfive 05-25-2011 08:57 PM

Chara - Big, Physical, Bomb on the point, Reach.

Big / Physical - We have faced both the big guys of Seabrook, Weber, Suter, and the Coke machine Murray. I don't think big and physical is a problem.

Bomb on the point - Denied Weber. Who knows, they might put Chara in front of Lui on the PP. Not a big deal.

Reach - Yes, but Keith had a pretty good stick, so did Boyle, and Suter.

If the Canucks play the way they can and put up some effort. There isn't much that can stop them. It's not being overconfident but it's really time for the other teams to be afraid of us. We are no longer the underdogs. This year is different.

Is it me or Guy Boucher sounds like Heath Ledger as the Joker?

Chara is also 6'9 and 260lbs, anyone you listed is nowhere near that.
I understand opponents have to respect our skill, but the fact even some people are acting like a Boston series would be a walk in the park is just stupid. That team has size, skill, and a very good goaltender.

Boston maybe bigger than us but we are faster, I say we are pretty evenly matched up and if we end up playing them, it could end up being a very entertaining series.

shawn79 05-25-2011 09:09 PM

thomas and chara is so overrated
thomas is very weak on high blocker side and chara will be out skated by the canucks!

The media hype bruins like they are so good because NHL favors them just how they want bruins to win over tampa, but tampa is just too good forcing a game 7.
(check penalty calls against tampa vs boston)

I rather see tampa vs vancouver so they dont blow any calls cuz no body gives a shit about tampa and vancouver :)

van19 05-25-2011 09:34 PM

I agree, Chara's way overrated.

Chara's one guy, he does not play the entire game. Sedins are hot right now, when they're hot, they can match anyone in the league

TRDood 05-25-2011 09:35 PM

Ohly shit. Did any of you buy tickets off CL yet?
I am a little hesitant to shell out $500-$800 per ticket before seeing the TM/TE prices.

Then again, it's the SC finals. How much did you guys pay for Olympic hockey gold medal game?

Look at Hank jump for joy at 0:14. That's the happiest, most emotional I've ever seen that guy and it's awesome.

I was doing pretty much exactly the same thing at the exact same time...'cept not wearing skates.

MR_BIGGS 05-25-2011 09:44 PM

Chara will make it hard for the Sedins to work around thhe net with his reach when the Canucks hold the zone, but on rushes, speed can definately be used.

I think the Canucks may match up better with Tampa.

Just hit up a season ticket holder that doesn't want to go. (i.e. the suits that own tickets in the lower bowl)

Just to give you something to compare with, my tickets for last round were $180ish. Ticketmaster was asking for $350+ (I think it was $356). This round, they're $260 for season ticket holders and based on the last round, I wouldn't be surprised to see them go for $500+ per ticket.

However, I doubt you'd be able to pry tickets for the SCF off a season ticket holder at their cost. Hell, I don't know if you'd be able to buy it off them even if you gave them more than their cost. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the Canucks go all the way! :)

Very true. I know there won't be any problems buying Game 1 and 2 off season holders.

It's the Game 5 and 7 that's a little iffy. For the Sharks series, to my knowledge, TM didn't do the "draw" offer. Rather, the seats were on the map (traditional) system.

Last round it was at $350 for row 8+ near centers. I hope it's going to be $500 for the same place.

This is going to be an expensive month. The cost of 1 short vacation!!

woob 05-25-2011 10:40 PM

Anyone have the replay of Bieksa's goal with Shorty's call as audio? Apparently he was one of the few that saw the play as it actually happened.

Reminds me of when Bryant Reeves celebrated after the Grizzlies first win.
