The Chicago Wolves would be a horrible affiliate to develop players as the owners there are interested more in icing a vetern, competitive team and turning a profit. The Wolves have gone through many different NHL team affiliations over the years with the management and owners quite often bumping heads with their NHL counterparts. The Wolves really have no interest in developing players properly for the NHL at all.

The Canucks really get screwed in loosing their agreement with Moose management guys like Chipman and Heisinger. It was Heisinger that found Burrows, Rypien, Bolduc and Mark Flood (who many are saying could be the next diamond in the rough) it was Heisinger that fought to keep and offer Bieska a pro contract when Bieska was a 5th round after thought. Chipman and Heisinger played key roles in developing Schneider, Burrows, Kesler, Hansen, Edler and Bieska, sometimes I think people overlook how important it is to have a proper development system for your prospects, not every player is a Ovechkin or Crosby, most need proper guidance to develop into the players they are today.

I was wondering don't they have a contract stating how many years they will be affiliates?

What happens to canucks prospects and draft picks that are playing on the Moose? Canucks shouldnt lose those players since they own the rights to them?

The Moose players that are Canucks property will remain that way.

It's an ok deal, sec 113 doesn't have the best view IMO, I prefer center ice or side view even if its from the upper bow. Personally I'm not a fan of the corners.

Yes they have a affiliate contract with the Moose for 1 more year but I believe there was always an out clause if True North bought an NHL team. The Canucks will retain the players on the Moose they have contracts and draft rights with, having to move them to a new AHL team and city. The Moose retain all the other players with no contracts with the Canucks.

It's the cup finals. Not rounds 1, 2, or 3. Whether you get ripped off isn't a question, its how bad you want to go.

Gumby 05-31-2011 09:32 AM

Don't know how some of you guys can afford these tickets... I'd be even more shocked if many of you are students!

Why does it matter?

You already made the purchase. It's not like the guy is going to give you a refund. :lol

im a student, which is why i can't afford to shell out that much money for tickets as much as i'd love to go.
my boss at work was going to sell me a pair of game 5 lower bowl tickets seated near the opposing team's hallway/dressing room for $600/pair.

too bad last minute he changed his meeting and is now able to go. fuck.

This sums it up pretty good. Personally I think if you want to go to a finals game live be prepared to spend IMO at the minimum $1,000 per person. Even with a ticket for $600 to $800, figure a night out drinking/eating at game/pregame/post game at least another $200 minimum. Some Canucks' fans have waited 17 to 40 years to witness this, so to experience your team in the finals live is priceless IMO, so don't get too hung up on how much you paid, just enjoy the experience.

hahha wow, the standing room only tickets that went on sale today on TM for $211.90 have already been listed on Stubhub for $799. Ticket brokers must've had staffs of 50 on computers grabbing up all tickets at 10am sharp.

AzNightmare 05-31-2011 09:44 AM

After reading about 20 pages of people trying to find tickets that I can no way afford since I'm a student, I'm kind of glad I personally prefer watching games at home on a big screen HD TV (so no big loss for me), regardless if it's cup final or what. The more important the game, the more I want to watch alone secluded without distractions of other people or alcohol.

But I'm the type that likes to analyze and critique every play rather than watch a game just "for a good time."
And hearing dumb remarks from people that know less about hockey annoys me. And most of my friends don't know more than me.
Which is why I usually come on RS instead to share or read up on stuff, or watch the game at home while logged in on this thread.

:alone: ??

When you put it in this perspective. Now I'm not a big fan of Winnipeg deal lol.

Are the Heat owned by the Flames completely? Could Abby decide to sign with the Canucks after their agreement is over?

InvisibleSoul 05-31-2011 09:54 AM

LoL... I had a work meeting for the first time in like a month this morning... and it just happens to have gone through 10am... but looks like I didn't miss much. Probably wouldn't have found any tickets anyway...

Wow, didn't realize season ticket holders get that big of a discount on tickets. My coworker has half-season tickets and he got tickets for Game 2 and Game 7 for about $150... but the cheapest ticket on Ticketmaster is almost $300...

hypediss 05-31-2011 09:56 AM

^ i think more importantly so is that staff that we lose in manitoba as a result of this deal...

major bitter sweet pill being swallowed there :T
