Wait, I don't recall, but did we get a penalty for this?
Because this was no way clipping. Hammer hit him right in the waist. It is clear as day.

What a great day yesterday, I really don't want to be at work today now

I would be shocked if Burrows is suspended for having too much bite, but NHL is going to talk to him today. Not a formal hearing, I am told.
I think a fine will be the most Burrows gets.

Gh0stRider 06-02-2011 07:35 AM

Is anyone planning on going to the viewing party for the away games???

you mean the viewing party at Rogers Arena? I'd pass, personally I'd rather be at a bar/lounge, hard liquor and waitress' bringing drinks to you instead of having to walk back and forth to concessions constantly. I'd suspect the "talent" will be a lot better at the bars/lounges too.

SkinnyPupp 06-02-2011 07:42 AM

If Horton didn't get suspended for throwing a bottle at a fan, I'm pretty sure Burrows won't get one for biting down on someone's glove after it got shoved into his mouth.

danny_d19 06-02-2011 07:58 AM

You can't see for sure that he actually BITES his finger. It's pretty obvious it's in his mouth but that's about it

i didn't even bother learning his name or talking to him all night. you knew he was an idiot fan when my friend (host) and i were talking stats and this guy was just dead silent with nothing to add.

i also have a co-worker (who i no longer consider a friend) who's suddenly into the canucks and buying shit for her dog. she hasn't watched a SINGLE game ALL SEASON LONG and now she's a canucks fan. i hate this type of person. only a fan when the canucks are popular and winning? fuck off.

Krecji got a penalty for cross checking on that play.

side note: my lucky t-shirt is now 4-0!! the kicker is, it's not even a canucks shirt. it's just some random green shirt.

R1G7 - Win
R2G3 - Win
R2G6 - Win
R3G4 - Win

my lucky shirt remains undefeated!

R4G1 - Win!

i spilled some yop on it yesterday by accident but i refuse to wash it at this point lol. i'm a little torn here though: should i wear the shirt throughout the series and risk a loss or wear it only on pivotal games? i guess every game is pivotal now....

why was the whistle blown then if there was no penalty on the hip check?
or did the puck go out of play?

fliptuner 06-02-2011 08:15 AM

I hate how the commentators question if it's clipping right away, just cause Ballard got a retarded call. "Now is that clipping? We've seen clipping before..Ballard, in these playoffs..."

STFU, idiot. We haven't seen clipping. We've seen a bullshit call for clipping.

It was a beautifully executed check. Give the guy his due for fuck sakes. If the Boston players weren't bitches about it and play continued, they would've been praising it as a great check.

And for Burrows, my guess is $1K - $3K fine.

The wonder of The Edge and Bono are going to perform?

Edmonton Oiler Gilbert Brule and his girlfriend picked up an unusual hitchhiker in West Vancouver on Tuesday — U2 frontman Bono.

Brule and girlfriend Kelsey Nichols were driving to a park to walk Bella, their German shepherd, on Tuesday afternoon near the West Vancouver Yacht club when they spotted a couple of hitchhikers on the side of the road.

Brule, watching out the window, was sure one of them was Bono.

Nichols, who was driving, didn’t believe him, because, really, why would Bono be hitchhiking in West Van?

“I didn’t want to stop, but they waved and G yelled ‘that’s Bono’,” Nichols said Wednesday night at Commonwealth Stadium. “I didn’t believe him so I kept driving.”

The couple went on, a short distance anyway, all the while Brule trying to convince Nichols to turn around. Eventually, she agreed.

The hitchhikers were still there when they drove up, so they yelled out: “Bono!”

He waved and walked over to their truck.

The Irishman, who indeed was Bono, asked if they could give him and his assistant a lift to Horseshoe Bay. Of course, Brule and Nichols obliged.

Turns out, he and his assistant had gone out for a walk when it started to rain, just before Brule and Nichols happened upon them.

On the drive to Horseshoe Bay, Bono and his assistant sat in the back with the couple’s dog. The four chatted about Brule’s hockey career, about Dublin and Bono’s apparent love for Vancouver.

Bono mentioned that his band was playing a show in Edmonton on Wednesday and asked if they’d like to go.

So Brule and Nichols sold their tickets for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals, bought plane tickets (three, so Brule’s mom could come too) and flew back to Edmonton, where Brule is a forward for the Oilers.

Bono got them backstage passes to say thanks for the ride.

On Nichols’s pass, he wrote: “Thanks for the ride.”

On Brule’s pass, he wrote: “My hero Gilbert.”

It was the strangest thing.

“We go to walk our dog and Bono ends up in our car,” Brule said.

Bono paid tribute to the favour onstage during Wednesday’s concert.

“I like ice hockey because people who play ice hockey are the kind of people who pick up hitchhikers,” Bono told the crowd.

“I’m ever so grateful. I’ve decided that I want to be Gilbert Brule.”

The Rogers Arena one? I might be going. I was thinking of a mini RS meet for the viewing party, assuming its not assigned seating or anything. Its about time some of us met up for a game.

That I do not know but I do know for a fact that Krejci got the only penalty on the play for cross checking. I remember going buck wild yelling at the TV that Hammy's hit was not clipping then after a moment realized that we were going on the Power Play.

Proof: If you go look at the boxscore you will notice David Krejci got a cross checking penalty at 4mins in the 2nd which is exactly when this hit occured.

On the topic of helping out famous people, a day or two ago, Drew Savage, one of the morning show hosts on Virgin Radio, said he saw one of the Sedin's shopping for groceries at Safeway (or was it Save On?).

When checking out, the clerk said to Drew that Sedin had lost his wallet and everybody was looking for it in the store/parking lot/etc.

Imagine you found the wallet!
