i'm still confident the canucks can get it together, i hope they come out firing on all cylinders wednesday and shut the bruins up

mb_ 06-07-2011 03:42 AM

Everyone already said what I would have said so I'm not gonna repeat them. With that being said, this will be forgotten come Friday. I expect a bounce back game tomorrow, I don't give a shit if we win 1-0 or a blow out, a win will put us 1 win away from the holy grail. THIS IS WHAT WE LIVE FOR, GO CANUCKS GO!

I'd rather have lost 8-1 today than something like 3-2....IMO, a close score shows that they can definitely beat us when we're near our best....8-1 shows nothing except the fact that we were off our game....Game 4, more likely than not, will be a much different story...

Chronix 06-07-2011 04:55 AM

Still looking for a pair of game 4 tixs! Will meet up today to get it! PM!

This was bullshit. Can't clock the goalie, but he has the ability to clock you? I understand small hits if a player is screening, but honestly, I've never seen something like this.

Vansterdam 06-07-2011 05:56 AM

is there a site for me to watch the last 5-10 minutes of the 3rd period?

CBC usually puts up a recording of the stream from games, so it could be there?

That really sucks for Horton, feel bad for the guy, it looked like a career altering hit :(

Rome will be suspended, Bob McKenzie posted this

Rome hit on Horton way late. 28 digital frames from release to hit. 30 frames=1 second. NHL standard for late hit is longer than .5 second.
I've seen the frame by frame breakdown and the initial point of contact was to Horton's head and the hit was late. Unfortunate result for Horton, but it wasn't a blindside hit and Rome didn't leave his feet at the initial point of contact. Rome will be suspended and it doesn't appear that Hamhuis will be ready to go, thank god for our D depth in Ballard and if need be Tanev.

The head shot is unfortunate. In the frame by frame you can see Rome has Horton's shoulder lined up with his shoulder initially for a wicked Scott Stevens style hit.

Yup, Rome isn't a dirty player and he's been on the receiving end of two of these types of dangerous hits recently, from McGinn and Pyatt, so I really doubt he wanted to put any other player in that result.

That being said, Rome will get suspended due to the severity of Horton's injury that resulted from an illegal play (late hit to the head).

Danger for the Canucks now is that this could serve as a rallying point for the Bruins, but I believe the Canucks can weather the storm.

Oleophobic 06-07-2011 07:35 AM

ugh severe concussion...
hate to see that happen to any player.
Here's to a full recovery for Horton and that this concussion won't affect his career/quality of life too much

highfive 06-07-2011 07:52 AM

There are so many possibilities that can happen.

-Boston use Horton to rally against the Canucks
-Boston are confident now that they can score on Luongo.
-That makes them either harder to play against or easier if they get overconfident and relax and sit back.

Greenstoner 06-07-2011 08:02 AM

i was watching at villa casino last night.

after the game end, a dude on a slot machine was "Hey canucks jersey, whats the final score, 4-0 ?"

ME "No, its 8-1. Blow out"

Slot guy "Wow, that sucks"

I ended the conversation and turn around about to leave

Slot guy " hey, canucks"

I turn around and see him doing a thumb down " its all going down hill now, buddy"

I exploded "Just like your slot machine" and a thumb down back for him

he was stun, " thx a lot !! "

I really hate hearing those bandwagnore comments when watching games in public, it just doesnt feel good

murd0c 06-07-2011 08:02 AM

Just read on Bob McKenzie's twitter that Rome's hearing lasted 20mins. No word on the result yet

Great68 06-07-2011 08:25 AM

I think what pissed me off the most is that the Canucks totally lost their composure and focussed more on chipping and fighting than trying to get back in the game and at that point the Bruins knew that they broke the Canucks.

punkwax 06-07-2011 08:27 AM

We'll bounce back.

fsy82 06-07-2011 08:37 AM

Aaron Rome suspended for 4 games as per sportsnet

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2011/...ome_suspended/

murd0c 06-07-2011 08:41 AM

Yep I think that is way too much, it should of been two max. First thing you learn in hockey is keep your fucken head up. I guess they are thinking since Horton is out for the rest of the playoffs Rome should be out as well.

Holy shit.....4 games!

gdoh 06-07-2011 08:43 AM

im thinking hes out for the rest of the playoffs is because hortan is and the fact that he left his feet

fsy82 06-07-2011 08:43 AM

I agree 4 is too much. If you watch the reply Horton was admiring his pass. He should kept his head up and realized he was in a vulnerable position on the ice.

mb_ 06-07-2011 08:47 AM

4 games??!?! A bit too much. Looks like Ballard in and/or Hamhuis will be rushed back into the line up

BlackV62K2 06-07-2011 08:47 AM

Lol Sportsnet headline fail

"NHL suspends Bruins defenceman Aaron Rome 4 games for Game 3 hit"

Ch28 06-07-2011 08:48 AM

Hopefully this means Ballard & Tanev draw in while Alberts comes out
