That sucks for Horton :( I hope he fully recovers and he can play hockey again.
I'm not too worried about the Canucks' loss. Shit happens and we had a collective collapse last night.

Personally I'm a fan of Tanev. I hope we play him now that we have the opportunity.

BlackV62K2 06-07-2011 08:51 AM

What's Hamhuis status? Day to Day?

b0unce. [?] 06-07-2011 08:51 AM

lol i bet the nhl gave rome 4 games to even it out. since horton is going to miss the rest of the playoffs, so will you.

Let's hope the Canucks are embarrassed and use this as motivation to bounce back.

Wow... 4 games. Severity of the injury.

A trade-off I would take anyday. :fullofwin:

Anyway, hope Horton's health recovers.

Greenstoner 06-07-2011 09:18 AM

unleash the secret weapon : Ballard

Hip checking the shit out of the Bruins ... :D

4 games is alright, to avoid any revenge from Bruin's players. Things could get ugly if he stays in the series

justice is served

SkinnyPupp 06-07-2011 09:20 AM

Holy shit they really threw the book at Rome.. 4 games for being 0.7 seconds late with a hit? he didn't run him, he didn't blindside him, he didn't jump before contact... Horton landed on his head.

This must have more to do with the Burrows bite than anything else.

Oh wells at least we have Ballard waiting :D

danny_d19 06-07-2011 09:20 AM

Pretty sure I remember very clearly in the first year of hitting hockey to keep my head up after a pass or shot instead of staring and admiring it.

spoon.ek9 06-07-2011 09:29 AM

i hope the d for game 4 is:

bieksa-salo
edler-ehrhoff
ballard-tanev

although, edler is a lot steadier when he plays with salo. i'm not sure if i've ever seen bieksa paired with ehrhoff though and AV definitely won't pair ballard with bieksa.

krazynuck 06-07-2011 09:30 AM

For Rome to have 4 games I think is good in the fact that it does not let Boston complain about anything....if he had got only two games people may look to give advantages to Boston but a 4 game evens everything out

Next game though they got to get their shit together....produce on the power play and don't get involved in any needless crap that can tarnish what they have accomplished

I am pretty sure that we will recover and take game 4

pastarocket 06-07-2011 09:33 AM

Our team will respond in game 4. Every player has to play with controlled aggression and stick with the game plan. There's gonna be a beat down in Beantown from our team.

Orcas maul bears!

mb_ 06-07-2011 09:36 AM

Hopefully this suspension means he'll be suspended for the first 2 games of the regular season :D

I'm listening to 1040 right now. God tony gallagher is fucking annoying. Why can't the NHL suspend him for 4 games?

oh Americans..

regardless...Rome is in there cuz he digs pucks outta corners alot better than Ballard can. Hell Ballard did play his way outta the line up. Yea, we all know ballard can play better, but he didn't show his worth early on and well. depth is why we are such a good team

Agreed. I'm listening too and I can't stand his whiny voice.

alwaysideways 06-07-2011 09:53 AM

I missed the post game interviews....did Claude Julien say anything about Lucic waving his fingers in Burrows face? Thought his team was above that? :fullofwin:

JDął 06-07-2011 09:55 AM

With all due respect I've lost some for the NHL. 4 games for a clean hit? In the Stanley Cup Final? Absolute bullshit.

There was no intent to injure, there was no head-hunting, no elbow. It was a shoulder to shoulder crushing of a guy who was watching his pass instead of keeping his head up in the neutral zone. Finishing a check one second after someone has moved the puck in a game of this intensity is completely within reason. The blow to Horton's head didn't come from the hit, it came from hitting the ice.

So are players not supposed to finish their checks now? If one second is too late then by the end of the first period half the players should have been ejected. Shame on the NHL.

palepilsenpin0y 06-07-2011 09:55 AM

Not sure if someone has posted this already (my apologies if it's a repost), but seriously...

if Aaron Rome gets a four game suspension for a slightly late but relatively clean hit, and Chara doesn't even get ejected from this game for this very late and extremely dirty-ass hit, then the NHL can go fuck themselves.

He wasn't happy, he reamed out both Lucic and Recchi for doing that both directly to them and publicly.

Mike Murphy just told me that he's told both clubs the next player who does the finger wagging in a scrum gets 2 min plus 10-min misconduct

^You can watch all the post game stuff online on NHL website.

Thank god they are going to clean up this series. The finger wagging is getting played out

yea but the guys working with/under or was u can say with Collie kinda suck?
Im hoping Brendan Shanahan does the right thing next year.

but given the situation, this didnt shock me. The moment Horton went down like that, I knew in the back of my mind he was done. His head snapped on impact.

The NHL ruled it a Blindside, becuz it was ruled as a late hit under Rule48. At the same time, Rome did leave his feet....

I can't stress this enough though, i've seen it all too much in hockey at all levels.

IF YOUR GONNA SKATE DOWN THE MIDDLE, KEEP YOUR HEAD UP.

but hey, Rome defended his blue line, he did the "right thing"
