What're you talkin' bout? He signed with us in the off-season...& what's your point?

goo3 06-09-2011 01:48 AM

i watched the first two periods again.. the new D pairings were out of sync

not only ballard/bieksa, but alberts/salo had some 'communication' issues too when they were playing together

3rd period was garbage time so don't use that to judge how well schneider played.. that said, i think he's capable and we shouldn't be afraid to hook luongo quick if we fall behind - for a wake up call and to give the bruins a different look with his puck handling and as a reflex goalie. The same weak spots on Luongo are not the same weak spots on schneider....

Spidey 06-09-2011 05:22 AM

i don't mind if schneider plays game 5, but if they win game 5 with corey in net, there is no way Lu is back in.. that said.. if the nucks end up winning the cup with corey in net... lu will stil be criticized to the death of him lol. I don't think AV will take Luongo out, even though he looks fatigued.

4 goals against or not, the fact is, it was 1-0 for half the game. The Canucks could not score. They got shots on net but they were very bad quality chances from the outside. Their powerplay really needs to start picking it up and making the Bruins pay for their dirty shots. If the PP doesn't start clicking, or their top 2 lines don't start doing something, this series will be over in 6. I realize how hard of a road the Nucks have took to get to the Cup compared ot the Bruins in terms of physicality. It would be very dissapointing to see them end up losing in the Finals, but it is very understandable that they are just physically and mentally done.

Hopefully they can get some extra push at home, and the line matches they want. Maybe it is time to put Burrs back with Kes, and throw in Oreo or someone in the first line. Raymond has been non existent and should maybe be on the 3rd line with Hansen

And for fucks sake, put Salo on the first unit Pp. There's no reason to have 2 left handed point men on the PP. They need to off wing shot for one timers, where either Salo or Edler can go back and forth and set each other up for the rocket... Ehrhoff needs to sit the Pp since he seems too tired to even play even strength, and hasn't hit the net (unless it is from centre) since game 1 round 1

A reason why the Nucks may have looked slow could be because of the ice. I know when I play on shitty/softer ice, it really really takes a toll on you. You exert so much more energy to move and it just doesn't feel right. The longer the game goes, the worse it gets.. With that said, they should be able to get their skates adjusted and sharpened according to those conditions to a certain degree. If the Canucks show up on friday and look good and speedy, that just may be the reason. I doubt they will be physically refreshed from Wed to Friday, so it may just be the bad ice that hindered a speedy skilled Canuck team rather than the bruins, who are used to their crappy ice.

Thomas would have stopped every single one of those.

Cheering him getting pulled is brutal, but Luongo's on the hook for those plays.

How can you say a goalie could have saved a certain shot? On a different night, Lu probably could have saved those 2 shots too, if it didn't deflect of anyone or anything. You can't blame shots that change direction on goalies. When they make the save, you are lucky and glad they did. If anything, Salo was to blame for not letting Lu get a clear view/ not do a better job deflecting the shot. The one off the body in front of the net were just flukes.

I'm just saying that in the last 2 games, Thomas has played at a level where it seems almost nothing will go in.

I guess people would not be up in arms if I had said "IN MY OPINION" Thomas would have saved those, but whatever. That SHOULD be inferred. Obviously I don't KNOW FOR A FACT that one goalie will stop certain shots. But so far, Thomas has played as well or better than expected, which in combination with the Canucks now anemic power play, makes him look unbeatable.

Thomas was pretty lights on in game 3.. especially when it counted.. lu played great in the first period as well.. I actually thought the Canucks played better for most parts of game 3 than they did in all of game 4. They actually had quality chances in game 3, whereas in game 4 they had nothing... A couple of bad breaks in game 3 and the wheels just fell off. The forwards looked pretty good in game 3, the D and Pp were pathetic.

In game 4, sure they had 40 shots again, but shit, Boston could have had Cloutier in net and he would have gotten a shutout.

Greenstoner 06-09-2011 07:43 AM

anybody on the board were cheering when they pull luongo at the viewing party ?

i understand it might be frustrated for the fans but cheering for it is just low.. This was one of the reason I hate watching the games in public, to avoid stupid shit like this.

DO YOU FANS REMEMBER, Robbing Pat Sharp in game 7 OT, stepping up to match Rinne and stop 2 to 1 shots from the Shark ??

The only thing we should be worry about is PP, 1/20 is not acceptable.

Our D has weaken, our forwards are injuried (im pretty sure most players are on both teams) but to win games, gotta need the special team to step it up a notch.

Yeah but he doesn't have to see the goalie to hit a defenceman. :fullofwin:

finally! yeah the d pairings last night were not working.
normally bieksa works really well with hamhuis. (5 on 5 situation)
alberts and ballard look sort of like the odd men out trying to find chemistry with the other d men. however ballard seems to be working best with tanev.

lol I just heard this on the radio, I'm not sure why this was a big deal.

I was there, I think people were cheering for Schnieder. I don't think everyone was cheering cause Lu finally left. It was still kind of dumb. There was nothing to cheer for, so people were looking for random shit to cheer for.

The big deal was that a Boston media member asked Lu what he thought of nucks fans at Rogers arena cheering for luongo getting pulled, which is a scum bag type of question to ask even for the media

dbaz 06-09-2011 08:42 AM

report out of new york saying rangers are on verge of buying out remainder of chris drury's and woltek wolski's contracts to be able to make a push for brad richards

Two comments:

1) We just need to keep pissing Thomas off - continue bumping into his goal stick.

2) I know the Sedins are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet, but I wish they had a mean streak on the ice, even just a tiny bit! Don't get pushed around!

Canucks in 7.

Totally makes sense.

I was glad to see SSSSSssssssssss................ I cheered.

All season, the kid takes the pressure off Luongo and does a good job..... I take that back, a great job. Luongo played well because he was well rested. It was a good setup. I don't see why they didn't continue that in the playoffs. I know the reason, but.

Anyway, shit happens. All one can do now is cheer the team on and hope for the best. BTW, I'm used to the roller coaster ride. Kind of like the weather we have here. One day it's pissing rain - by the end of the day, it is sunny only to hail the next day. Two wins away, god damn it!!!

When I think of travelling & vacationing, ANY city in the USA is probably the last place on my list of places to visit let alone Boston.

gdoh 06-09-2011 09:07 AM

^same here except for vegas =]

i would like to see luongo play on friday and schnieder on sunday

Great68 06-09-2011 09:10 AM

I've been to Vegas (albeit for work) and wasn't really impressed. I'd much rather go to Mexico.

i wish the sedins would play with more intensity. i still feel henrik needs to step up and be more of a leader.
the team needs to play with more emotion.
