You don't think Canuck fans were harrassing Bruin fans the first two games?

There's "harassing" and then there is harassing. When your own newspaper tells you to cool it, you know you have stepped over the line.

Bruins: Keep it civil in the stands
EDITORIAL | GLOBE EDITORIAL
June 08, 2011

Fans cheer after the Bruins win Monday.
The Bruins’ victory over the Canucks in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Monday night was marred by an ugly play against Boston forward Nathan Horton — and some ugly behavior toward Vancouver fans. The league has rightly suspended Aaron Rome for four games, ending his season. Both the Garden and loyal Bruins fans now have a responsibility to make sure that visiting fans aren’t harassed, however misplaced their loyalties might seem.

It’s one thing to rib opposing fans, but at least a few Bruins fans crossed the line. According to numerous accounts from Canucks fans, visitors were harangued, squirted with mustard, or even spit at — especially after the hit on Horton added to the tension in the stands. Nothing that happens on the ice warrants such a hostile response among fans.

It’s especially troubling to hear reports by spectators of heckling with racial overtones. Nancy Grewal of Toronto, who is Indian-Canadian, told the Globe she was repeatedly called a “terrorist’’ by a neighboring fan. She says she alerted ushers to the harassment, but the fan was not removed, forcing her to leave seats for which she paid $1,800.

Acts like these demand a vigilant response from the Garden. Tonight, the venue needs to beef up security and, if necessary, cut off alcohol sales if tensions flare. Vancouver fans should be aware of a number — (617) 624-2326 — where they can report problems at the Garden. Local fans, meanwhile, need to keep it civil; they must not tolerate behavior toward visitors that they wouldn’t abide if they were on the receiving end.

I hear Philly fans are worse.

FeistyBearH22a 06-09-2011 07:58 PM

^ I heard the same about Detroit fans.

Agreed. Friday will probably be the most crucial game of entire Canuck history. People can argue game 7 in 94 was the most crucial game but the '94 team was not the highly favourable team and won by strong will and miracles.

As for the Canucks this year, they have a high reputation to keep, especially afterwinning the Presidents' Trophy. They're literally top of just almost every statistical category in the regular season.

You can see a little of my playoff beard. It's getting annoying. How are you guys getting on with bearding?

The older you get the more wiry the hairs get. Plus the gray doesn't help. Jesus, it's itchy......... Speaking of jesus, I resemble an Asian jesus right now with the beard. That or some old Taliban. If the playoffs don't end soon, something is gonna be nesting in there soon.

As long as you keep ordering food and drinks you can stay. Don't be one of those idiots sitting there for 6 hours nursing 3 beers the whole night or just ordering water and pop only.

apply this to game 5 and use that momentum to win it all game 6!

SkinnyPupp 06-09-2011 10:18 PM

Because something that happened in 1988 has an influence on whether the Sedins can start scoring again... oh and Montreal won the cup pretty much every year during that era ;)

Awesome speech.
Too bad they didn't skate, shoot, or score even a single goal in that game...

woot woot!

hmm I'm considering going....

just wondering if anyone knows how packed it usually gets? I mean if my chances of getting my jersey signed isn't high then it's probably not worth it for me to wake up so early on a sunday

Don't know why you're such a negative nancy. Fans just want to make themselves feel more involved with their team and to be assured that their team will win or have a higher chance of winning. Stats just add more fun into the game and if you don't believe in it that's fine but don't ruin it for the rest of us.
