fuck how they played in the past this is the game for everything, put it all on the line and give it everything they have. we need all the help from the fans too lets be so loud that the people in boston can hear us. canucks are the better team in all aspects

friend_steve 06-14-2011 10:44 AM

Sorry for being off topic but can someone explain to me luongo's contract and why it was a good signing.
My friend is still pulling out the whole "but we are paying him 10 mil"
Which is fuckin retarded considering it's the cap era and the only number is the cap hit not the 10m..

It's good because being a long term deal we get to have an avg salary cap hit of 5.33 mil per year.

It's also a frontloaded contract which let's him get most of his money at the beginning rather the end. So if he retires before his contract is up he won't miss out on much.

Win-win for both parties.

Here's to hoping we have a LEGIT game 7, skill vs skill.

Tell your friend, we aren't paying him 10 mil. Aquilini is paying him 10 million. and because it's a long term contract, we aren't being hit with a 10 million cap hit but instead a 5.33 million cap hit.

If your friend wants to argue that we can pay less for a similar results goaltender such as Schneider and we can use the extra cap space for other areas of the team. It would be a much better argument.

saw this on facebook feed. very creative.
Lets hope Louie is chopped on a Mavericks jersey instead of the Heat one...

Compare NHL.com's articles on both hits...

Quote:

Vancouver Canucks forward Mason Raymond sustained a vertebrae compression fracture in the first period of Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final on Monday and is expected to miss 3-4 months, President and General Manager Mike Gillis announced Tuesday.

Raymond suffered the injury on the game's first shift, when he got tangled with Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk. Raymond was bent at the waist when he fell back-side first into the boards.
versus

Quote:

BOSTON (AP) - Bruins forward Nathan Horton will miss the rest of the Stanley Cup finals with a severe concussion after he absorbed a blindside hit from Canucks defenseman Aaron Rome during Game 3 on Monday night.

Horton had just passed the puck when Rome came at him, lowered his shoulder and flattened him - the kind of hit the NHL has tried to eliminate after several players sustained severe concussions. The 26-year-old Horton left Boston's 8-1 victory on a stretcher and was taken to a hospital.

It's the stanley cup finals. it's never legit and it's never skill vs skill. It's the dirtiest games u can ever play.

Mr.HappySilp 06-14-2011 11:44 AM

^^ Should at least call a penalty on the Raymond's hit but nooooooooooooo they let it go.

Coz NHL senior vice-president Colin Campbell's son, Greg, plays for the Bruins.

Seems very fair that his son plays for Bruins and calls are going to be 100% fair to both teams.

hotshot1 06-14-2011 11:45 AM

Does anyone know who's going to be officiating tomorrow?

Hheidi 06-14-2011 11:50 AM

Today on Bing.com

On the bottom of the page....That's kinda mean :(

^it will happen if we lose no doubt about that

InvisibleSoul 06-14-2011 12:00 PM

Well, bookies still have the Canucks as relatively heavy favorites for game 7, despite the fact that all three of the home wins have been by the smallest of margins.

However, I can't help but to have this really bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.

I know:

-EA simulated the Canucks to win in 7 games over Boston before the season started
-EA simulated the Canucks to win in 7 games again before the Finals started
-Home team has won every game so far, as EA predicted
-Only three times in history has a road team won game 7 on the road (last one was very recent, Pittsburgh in 2009)
-Canadian city has won the Stanley Cup the year after hosting Olympics everytime

Despite all this, the ironist in me can't help but to think all this will blow up in our faces, and all these predictions and trends will end with the Canucks and the team is cursed.

God do I hope I'm wrong.

Yep it resulted in that and my comeback was that the Canucks traded away for a superstar goaltender at the time which the Canucks desperately needed.
Not to mention that at the time majority of the NHL teams would have payed him more then what we got him for in terms of cap hit.
So anyways that's my argument to him and besides I remember in the 12 year contract both partys are allowed to walk away or trade luongo base on his performance.
Anyways his contract was to me by far one of the best contract any gm has came up with.
It's so rigged that the NHL was looking into it during the kovalchuk long term signing.

Thread just hit over 1mil views!

WOOOO!

krazynuck 06-14-2011 12:30 PM

im pretty sure that thing on Bing was what happened in the past as it directs you to the 1994 playoffs

as we lost June 14. 1994 to NYR :(

on a side note i don't know if this has been posted before but this thread was started ONE year ago today

kinda interesting to see that this time last year we were only talking about the free agents that we could sign and what may happen in the off season

I stand by my Canucks and believe that 100% they will NOT disappoint tomorrow and win game 7.

I want to start the Offical 2011/2012 thread with saying I hope we can repeat

I actually feel pretty confident and not worried at all.
But I'll get back to you during the first intermission.

just so you know... Colin Campbell stepped down from his position before the series because of that fact.

I think Brendan Shanahan took over but Mike Murphy is the temporary disciplinarian

AV should have started to wave the white towel in Boston when the game was out of reach and the refs had their whistles up their asses.... Then again, maybe we will see it in Vancouver... that would be pretty epic is one of the Canucks started to wave the towel during the final countdown of the game if the Canucks are winning
