the dudes played a few seasons already...
He's already made it

watch some more hockey outside the canucks.
yikessss

I think if Carey Price changes his lifestyle...ie..stop partying so much and focus a bit, he can only get better.

By trading HALAK, it makes Price the starter

Hondaracer 09-23-2010 10:12 AM

I said price was done 3 years ago now and he's done nothing to prove me wrong

price has been going downhill for awhile now. i think it has more to do with his mental strength as opposed to his skill set. he used to be a hero in montreal, for his sake i hope he can attain that status again.

shawn79 09-23-2010 10:29 AM

lets talk about our bottom 4, would morrison and scheafer crack the line up with torres and maholtra secured in the 3rd line?

torres maholtra hansen
scheafer morrison rypien? :troll:

noots 09-23-2010 10:35 AM

Price has the skill to be a good goalie, but the pressure that comes with being the #1 goalie in Montreal is getting to him and his confidence. Last season, Price showed some of his potential and the fans chanted his name. A week later they booed him out of the arena.

If he can't learn to handle the pressure, he could probably flourish elsewhere.

sonick 09-23-2010 10:55 AM

People discounting Carey Price have to remember, Montreal managed to chase Patrick Roy out of town in his prime. Even one of the best (and cockiest) goalies to ever play the game, was fed up with the city and its fans.

This +1

Vancouver fans are nothing compared to Montreal fans and their goalies. It's amazing how they can be giving a standing ovation one night, then booing the next.

Saw the game yesterday, yikes, Schaeffer sucks balls. He got lucky with that slapshot on Dubnyk. But wow, send that guy home.

Not enough grit at all for a fourth line. I don't see Schaefer cracking the lineup at all, other than his one goal his performances have been pretty sub par.

I see it looking something more like this.

Torres - Malholtra - Hansen/Morrison/Hodgson
Oreskovich - Perrault/Morrison - Glass
Rypien

I wouldn't completely rule out Desbiens either, he was doing just what a 4th liner needs to do out there. He's terribly slow though which is a big downfall.

Harvey Specter 09-23-2010 12:27 PM

Price isn't that bad of a goalie. He's shown skill but there was too much goalie BS in Montreal

AzNightmare 09-23-2010 12:27 PM

Price needs to get out of Montreal.
He's not gonna build any confidence playing for that city.
He should refocus elsewhere after his contract's up...

Ya, I'm sure the fans aren't the only ones who wish Price got traded instead of halak. I'm sure Price wishes it was him that got moved as well.

Boo the management, Price doesn't make those decisions it's above his pay grade.

Bouncing Bettys 09-23-2010 12:39 PM

Price has the ability to be a very good goalie. he needs time to develop and it doesn't help that he is under the thumb of those sandy vag hab fans. way to go gainey for thrusting price into the big show before he was ready.

i agree with this. i haven't seen anything thus far that would indicate him earning a roster spot.

Ch28 09-23-2010 01:45 PM

Schaefer won't crack the lineup.

Morrison will get a spot.

woob 09-23-2010 03:15 PM

^^ perfect scenario.

Not really racist! 09-23-2010 04:06 PM

I'll give Price 10 regular season games to fix up all the jitters before I start bashing him.

pretty sure it was management that chased him out

he won a cup in his rookie season, pretty sure fans loved him from that point on

mako 09-23-2010 04:18 PM

wasnt it Roy that wanted out of Montreal?

You don't know the actual story?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Roy
Quote:

On December 2, 1995, Roy was in net against the Detroit Red Wings during Montreal's worst home game in franchise history, an 11-1 loss.[9] Roy allowed nine goals on 26 shots, and the crowd jeered him whenever he made an easy save. In response, Roy raised his arms in mock celebration. When coach Mario Tremblay finally pulled Roy in the middle of the second period, Roy stormed past him and told team president Ronald Corey "It's my last game in Montreal."[10] Roy later told the media that despite allowing five goals on 17 shots in the first, Tremblay kept him in net in order to humiliate him. He also said that he would not have demanded a trade if Tremblay had kept him on the bench in the second period. Roy and Tremblay reportedly had a lengthy, strained relationship; during his sports radio career, Tremblay often criticized Roy, and when they played together, they would argue during practice.
Definitely Roy who made the decision to leave, not the management.
