Apparently the cap is gonna be between "60.5 million and $63.5" according to Bill Daley, the Deputy Commissioner. I'm gonna go with 62m because it's the average. That's 2.6m increase.

Anyway, this is what it looks like next year: The total's 47.34 so there's flexibility.

Sedins (12.2) - Burrows (2)
Raymond (2.55) - Kesler (5) - Samuelsson (2.5)
Malholtra (2.5)
Hodgson (1.66)

Hamhuis (4.5) - Edler (3.25)
Ballard (4.2) - Rome (.75)

Luongo (5.33)
Schneider (.9)

For my first scenario, trade Ballard asap for picks because 4.2m for 10 mins a game and multiple healthy scratches is just terrible. Re-sign Hansen (1.5), Lapierre (1), Torres (1.5), Tambellini (1), Bieksa (4), and Ehrhoff (6) .If they can be signed for those numbers, that's 15m which would leave 62 - (47.34 + 15 - 4.2) = 3.86m free'd up space to get a real 2nd line player for Kesler to play with. So... the team basically stays the same, which might be good considering we just went to the finals or bad considering we lost. Anyway, feel free to grill me.

For my second scenario, resign Hansen, Lapierre, Torres, Tambellini, and Bieksa for those numbers (9m in total). Then I would try to trade Schneider, Hodgson, and picks for a legit 1st/2nd line player.

I got the numbers off capgeek.com btw. Again, feel free to grill me on my numbers or my thinking.

Besides, I'm keeping myself occupied trying to catch rioter scum. I'm like Batman...but y'know...not as awesome...or rich...or...you get the idea.

I wouldn't get too depressed. I have faith this team will make it again in the near future, the core needs a bit more tweaking.

I don't think Ehrhoff is a 6 mill dman, and I think Juice is worth more than only 4 mill.

Realistically speaking these guys can fetch 5 mill on the free market easily. 6 is pushing it

It was mentioned on the team that most likely Ehrhoff will get an offer sheet from another team which the Canucks will not match. I know Ehrhoff loves Vancouver but I'm sure he's gone if he can make more somewhere else.

And I forgot to mention this earlier but there was some talk on the team 1040 that the team basically stop playing for Lu. I personally don't buy that, what athlete would do that in game 7 of a finals?

And there was also some talk about how Lu's wife never liking Vancouver and how she's not always in town and that Lu might request a trade for personal reasons if he feels that he might need a new start somewhere else because of the added pressure of losing the cup finals. Again, I don't buy into this nonsense but we all know we're going to hear stupid shit like this all summer long.

Ehrhoff = $5.25-5.5
Bieksa = $4.0-4.5

That's about fair.

I don't know if you mean offer or offer sheet but Ehrhoff is a UFA and can't get offer sheets. If you mean he gets a $6m offer, then maybe...but I have a feeling he'll re-sign before July 1st.

Well I dont think Ehrhoff is a 6m dman either but I put 6 because this year's ufa dman class is pretty weak. I think a team's bound to overpay for him. For example, if Lidstrom retires, I could see them try and outbid everyone for him. And I put Bieksa at 4 because I can't see him getting paid the same as Hamhuis and I also think that he's the type of guy who'd give a home-town discount.

I can't fucking sleep. The game 7 loss is still lingering and haunting me. The whole playoff run just keeps replaying over and over in my head when I close my eyes.

This is almost like dealing with a painful break-up.

Wait no, scratch that. Way worse

Watching the Boston NBC feed and the quote from the weatherman of all people was "was running the show in the locker room for the Canucks, the coach AV or their goalie? Seems like it was their goalie because the coach was asking him if he wanted to play or get pulled after allowing a touchdown and field goal".

So what?? Weatherman watch hockey too I would think! In any case, it's over now, no need to look at who's saying what anymore. Move on.

Schneider starting game 6 would have made a huge difference, IMO. Luigi would have got his much needed rest for game seven. Schneider coming in for Luigi once in a while was the key to both goalie's success throughout the regular season. They got away from the stuff that made them successful all year. Sure, the playoffs are different, but resting an emtional goalie like Luigi after how many straight games?

Boston was not a friendly place for Luigi, yet they put him in again and again. There is a pattern there. You don't go courting danger at a time like this. I guess some people have too big of an ego to think about the rest of the team. Perhaps too much confidence in a single player?

Again, it is not Luigi's fault. Too much pressure put on the guy. You hype him up to be god's gift to goaltending and pay him accordingly and build your team around him. What if, the guy is not that great? Look at Tim Thomas. He's how old? Some will say, "Where the hell did this guy come from?" He had nothing to lose and everything to gain. He's cool as a cucumber in the net with absolutely no pressure put on him by anyone let alone himself. He has an unorthadox style of play that people criticize. He continued to believe in himself and his style of play and basically had fun doing it. He cheered every time their team scored. Now that the playoffs are over, I can say, good for him.

I'm more upset about the rioting than about the loss. Like others, I knew that once the 2nd goal went it, it was over and by the time the game ended, I had gotten over most of my disappointment.

Some observations:
- The Sedins are great players, but they are simply just not cut for playoff hockey. I'm still happy to have them on the team though.
- We simply didn't have enough soldiers in the end. The loss of Samuelsson was understated at the time, but I'm sure he wouldn't have hesitated to fire the puck from all angles which may have led to a couple of goals which could have been the difference against Boston. The loss of Hamhuis was the final blow.
- Erhoff shouldn't be resigned. Yes, he was injured against the Sharks, but he can't handle larger forwards. Gillis should spend his money on Juice as the chemistry between he and Hammer is clear.
- I stand corrected about Alberts. Let Alberts go, re-sign Rome as your 7th D.

so what you are saying is, you would have put schneids in net in game 6 because you were EXPECTING TO LOSE. They put in Luongo because it was a chance to win the cup, period. The Canucks had TWO games to win the cup... They LOST 4 OF THE LAST 5 and handed the Bruins the cup. PERIOD. Injuries or not, those are the facts.

Oh wait, nobody can say anything bad about Luongo without the nut lickers coming to his defense with inflammatory troll retorts. Thanks for keeping the tradition alive even in the post season!

I really wish we could hear another "SEE I TOLD YOU LU WOULD BRING THE CUP HOME FOR US" from all you fuckers, I really do
You blamed Lu for the loss, I blame the lack of production from all the Canucks forwards. Lu played great 3 games, and Played like shit the other 3. game 7, the team in front of him didn't show up, and didn't matter whether he let in 1 or 3, they would have lost. You won't win a cup scoring 7 goals in 7 games.

I'm still hurt by the loss, so close yet so far but I'm proud of our boys and have no doubt in my mind that we'kll be back sooner rather than later. It's unfortunate how this series turned out and our offence was basically stopped dead in it's tracks. They won as a team, lost as a team, battled as a team and we can't really blame a single player for not bringing us the holy grail. Just hope this keeps our team more focused and determined for next year. That includes Luongo. Hoping we pull a Pens next year!

I think what people fail to realize with Ballard is that he had hip surgery last May, and he couldn't put any weight on the joints for the first 2 months. So when he entered training camp he had basically been on crutches for 2 months without a proper training session in the summer. Couple that with moving to a new city, new teammates and greater media scrutiny.

My personal opinion on this is that he didn't really ever get his legs going this season and didn't have a proper off season training session and that can throw you off. I'm in no way a Ballard fan, but I think going healthy into next season and having a proper training session will make him as good as advertised. I think before people scrutinze see what he can do next season. I think he will be in top 4.

The only goal I think Lu even had a chance on was the first one, and even that was a bit of a tricky play.

The second, Daniel was tripping over him so he couldn't get back in time to catch the wraparound.

The third, he probably had the puck, but Ehrhoff had knocked Bergeron down and it looked like the butt end of Bergeron's stick knocked the puck in. If Ehrhoff had managed to angle Bergeron away, that one doesn't get knocked in after Lu makes the initial stop.

Which is not to blame Danny or Ehrhoff, either - really, the whole team was looking tired and slacked off. With a little more energy, Danny isn't falling over Lu, and Ehrhoff has an extra step on Bergeron and can probably take the puck off his stick instead of tripping him up.

It will be interesting to see what injuries the team has, now that it's over... something tells me a lot of them have been hurting pretty bad for a while now.

We need some more muscle in our lineup. The Bruins proved that size & strength is much more important than all out skill.

and the fact that AV doesnt give him the minutes how can we judge by his play?

sure AV gave him a couple of games in the playoffs... but thats cuz AV was desperate.. and he expected a lot out of Ballard since he was on a short leash
