Yep, but the majority of people can't see that!

I miss Raycroft. Now with Dallas................ oh well, shit happens. I guess Schneider will have to do.

canucks = the next flames?

last season the flames looked good on paper, but they just went downhill after the first month.

You bandwagoners are ridiculous... it's the pre-season.

Anyways, anyone wondering why Ballard has looked a bit off.

Quote:

EDMONTON – No wonder Keith Ballard is struggling. Look at the upheaval he must overcome.

The defenceman has a new home, new teammates, new system, new scrutiny and a new hip. Yes, hip.

It has received far less attention than off-season surgeries to Canuck teammates Alex Burrows and Sami Salo, but Ballard underwent hip surgery last May significant enough to put him on crutches for two months.

It delayed his summer preparation. Judging by Sunday, when Ballard was awful against the Edmonton Oilers, the 27-year-old is still trying to catch up.

“There's a few days where it has been sore,” Ballard said after the 8-2 blowout loss. “The hip has actually been pretty good. I was on crutches for two months. I was non-weight bearing for two months. It was a long process.”

Ballard said he had a stress fracture repaired in his hip socket and a cyst removed from the area. It was the second hip surgery of his career, but Ballard said the injuries were unrelated.

“I played last year with it,” he said of the fracture. “It was pretty apparent at the end of the season that I needed surgery.”

He conceded Sunday he hasn't been good enough in his two pre-season appearances, but insisted his hip is not the problem.

“I'm just not quite there yet,” Ballard said. “It feels I'm a step off. I wouldn't say I'm a step slow, but the reads aren't . . . to the point where they're automatic. It's a fast game and, being a defenceman, you can't hesitate. You have to use your instincts. Some guys can turn it on as soon as they get back, and other guys it takes a little longer to get going. I'm also making adjustments living-wise, family-wise. That [transition] is different for every guy.”

Ballard was acquired from the Florida Panthers in a draft-day trade in June. He has five years and $21-million left on his contract.

Lol, some of y'all need to relax...it's only preseason.

shawn79 09-27-2010 01:24 AM

^ no man this is vancouver, canucks hockey is serious busniess. Including pre-season!!!

:troll:

Ronin 09-27-2010 01:50 AM

The previous two years we had undefeated preseasons.

Was that any indication of how we performed in the playoffs? Nope. If it was, we'd go 16 and 0 and have two Cups now.

Preseason is meaningless.

I watched the game last night and after 4 goals I had enough.
If the Canucks think Schneider is worthy of a backup role this year then they are gonna be sorrily mistaken.
Letting go of Raycroft thinking the Canucks could hand the reigns to Schneider for the backup spot was a huge mistake.
Keeping Raycroft and trading Schneider & Bieska when they had more value would have netted us something decent in the off season.

The only player that really impressed me on the Canucks was Mason Raymond. What a stud. The guy is clearly on the road to becoming the next Pavel Bure. His speed is unreal.
Edmonton kicked our asses. Eberle looked amazing!! Hate Edmonton but I think they picked a gem. Oh and Hall wasn't too shabby either

Eberle #22 Draft Pick 08
Hodgson #10 Draft Pick 08

Eberle>Hodgson
Looking like another Canucks draft bust....?

You're the next orange7, except he's being dumb whereas you're being serious!

2010 four pre-season game recap:

- Hodgson (1 *healthy* pre-season GP) is a bust
- Eberle is now an elite sniper
- A $6.5M, 14 pts in 75GP, AHL Redden is better than Bieksa
- We need to get a refund on Keith Ballard
- Cory Schneider will never be an NHL goalie in any capacity
- Mason Raymond will be an elite 60G+ dangler
- Canucks will not make playoffs

I hope the less bright amongst us realize this is a recap of what's been said in this thread after 4 pre-season games.

Yeah, I'm going to miss the guy too but we were just lucky to pick him up for cheap, last year.

Yeah, we suck. 4 in a row... WTF is this shit? I thought we were going to be contenders? Stop watching now, save yourself the grief! In fact, some of you guys should just unsubscribe from this thread right now so you won't have to hear us whining all season. OK? Promise? Cool!!

You're actually an idiot.

Hodgson a bust after 1 preseason game, where he was a +1 in an 8-2 loss.. that makes sense. It blows my mind how little some of you people know about hockey!
