Hodgson hasn't played at this high a level in ages, people need to cut him slack. Just because he isn't going to make the team right out of camp doesn't mean he's a "bust". Let him season and let his body catch up to his hockey sense in the AHL and he WILL be a great player for us one day.
Have a little faith, he didn't win CHL player of the year for nothing!

Hodgson will be in Winnipeg and hopefully he'll get his legs back soon and get a few call ups here and there.

I was having this discussion with a few friends about under rated teams and who might surprise everyone.
If you could pick 3 'underdog' teams that would either surprise everyone this season/make the playoffs, who would they be? list a couple reasons :P
i thinking, bolts/rangers/kings
bolts: stamko's had a 50+ goal season, with their additions of gagne and some big names like vinny, malone and st. louis to help out... i think they are gonna do pretty well
rangers: healthy gaborik is scary.
kings: kings defense looks pretty sick. i think brown and kopitar will do pretty well, along with handzus, ponikarovsky, and smith.

i feel like the kings were never really a 'favored' team to win
they used to be a team usually sitting at the bottom, but like phoenix, they had a good season

They may need another year or two to get there but they are certainly a team that is going to be killer in the foreseeable future.

The kings were ranked 6 on tsn's 30 for 30 thing, I'd say that's hardly underdogs
I like the bolts to make the playoffs but I think the rest of the east is fairly set, west is harder to predict an underdog

Would you guys consider this season a choke job if we don't at least make it to the finals or even conference finals? Just curious.

Just curious cause we were never a consensus pick for winning the cup but this year, pretty much every news outlet has us in the top 3.

So far Florida looked to have gotten the better of the trade.
Ballard making tons of mistakes in the pre season. Realistically hasn't looked like a top 4 D
but I will give him some slack because of the hip surgery.
Oreskevich showing he's a big body with very little offensive skill or upside. Reminds me Brad Isbister.
If I could turn back time I would have kept Grabner knowing he would have been a perfect fit with Raymond & Kesler. It was obvious that line had real good chemistry.
A couple players that would have a huge impact would have been Kaberle on D, an experienced veteran like John Madden, Halpern, Weight on the 4th line
Especially John Madden!!
Yesterdays game was a nightmare. We need only keep the bubble players for Friday's game and have them playing with Canucks guaranteed roster players.

Leaf fans think they'll be winning the cup this season. I was watching the game last night and they were talking all high and mighty about the team they have, yes it looks decent on paper but I still see cracks.
