yeah, that was weird. I was wondering why he was wobbling around so much.
Luongo looks so solid once again. Although what's with these last two games. Didn't really feel that exciting to me.

UnDeadMage 10-11-2010 08:43 PM

it was not exciting but it was soliddd

Hondaracer 10-11-2010 08:47 PM

watching the last 2 games, imo the Canucks are already a better team than last year

WATCH 2 GAMES

PREDICT ENTIRE SEASON

Hondaracer 10-11-2010 09:03 PM

maybe im not as blind as you 28, but when i see things like the way plays develop, defensive play, physicality, Luongo's play

when almost every area that was considered "weak" has improved to a point of noticeable change of style/direction, i would consider that an improvement.

it's 2 games, but they are all positive signs

Alatar 10-11-2010 09:03 PM

At least our power play is better than last year! :troll:

Blind?

If anything, you're the blindest homer in this entire thread :bowrofl:

Nucks werent off the chart great nor did they pull a stinker. maybe hondaracer is jumping the gun a bit, but i think he means to say that our team looks optimistic this season.
Considering our upgrades

bottom 6 is ALOT better.
-Malhotra is a faceoff machine-
-Torres (when he moves down here eventually) is sandpaper
-Schaffer looks decent.
Definitely not a soft bottom 6 like previous years.

Looking at our D is exciting.
-Ehroff seems to have landed an extra gear. Hes flying out there.
-Edler is definitely channeling Chris Pronger's brute physicality.
-new FAs ballard and hamhuis look great
-Alberts is not the clown he was in the previous playoffs
-Bieksa. Looks like shit. But he'll give a great return once (if) Salo returns. Trade bait someone will bite.

Not really racist! 10-11-2010 09:30 PM

Good to see Louie still playing solid. He's helping me fix Hiller's horrible week -_-

Another big game by Lu, seems like a different player without the pressures of been the captain of the team. Hopefully we get the win vs. the Ducks and not hand them their first win of the season.

u sure? cuz i thot saturday's PP didnt look ANYTHING like its suppose to be for a high offensive scoring team

spoon.ek9 10-11-2010 10:47 PM

say what you will about only 2 games played but our PK and Lu look great out there! (thus far)

maxxxboost 10-11-2010 10:59 PM

Was at the game, The edler goal was hard to swallow. Surprised there were very little penalties but overall good game.

hotshot1 10-11-2010 11:49 PM

Torres is playing the opposite of what i expected. He's passing the puck, not hitting anyone... he needs to turn into that annoying prick i hated when he was in Edmonton.

burrows heal faster! ... and maybe salo too

iwantaskyline 10-12-2010 12:45 AM

New goalie coach is making a huge difference.

Werd. IIRC Luongo played well last year too but only when he was working with Ian Clark. Unfortunately Ian Clark only worked with Lui sporadically because of his own goalie school business so that's why you see ups and downs with his performance through out the season.

Just my speculation.

AzNightmare 10-12-2010 03:12 AM

Luongo's movements seem so efficient.
He almost looks like he's in slow motion,
yet quick enough to block everything.
Making everything look so easy... even his desperation saves.

Thats because the new goalie coach (Mellanson) told Lu to play deeper in his crease. He's such a big goalie it'd be more beneficial for him to play deeper so he can move side to side easier. I saw so many goals last year where the other team had a wide open net because he challenged so far out.

goo3 10-12-2010 05:10 AM

Luongo's game looks smooth because he's not trying to do everything. The goalie and defense is one package.. they need to coordinate and that's what coaching is for.

if you play deep, you make sure the players in front of you are taking shooting lanes and pressuring shooters so they don't have time to pick you apart.

last yr, too many players tried to be heroes playing sliding goalie instead of clearing rebounds. let's hope they fix that.

You make no sense at all. Luongo trying to do everything? He's a goalie, he tries to stop the puck, period. He's a big guy so he can afford to play deep, he also lost 10 pounds this summer so he is a bit quicker.

Reference to the fact that we scored on our first power play, and had none last night. Our penalty kill definitely seems better though. ;)
