i would think the training would be mainly concerned with cross crease and down low plays, would have to think he's still going to come out of the blue to challenge on point shots etc.

So I learned a few things about buying tickets yesterday....

Bought off a trusted seller that I know isn't into hockey. He won them from his kid's highschool raffle (private school) held in July and recieved the hard copies about 6 weeks ago. I'm assuming they were donated to raise money for the school.

I get to the gate, denied at the door and directed to the box office downstairs. The lady told me that replacement copies were requested last week, voiding the tickets I had. I talked to the seller and I know he's going to try to make it right any way he can (so I'm lucky in that respect).

Dejected, leaving Rogers, one of the scalpers goes, "Leaving so soon?" "Nah, got fucked on tickets." Ended up selling me a pair on 303 for $30, kind of saving my trip, parking, etc. I only missed 5 minutes of the 1st.

I'm waiting to hear from the person at the school responsible for holding the raffle since no prize was won (well, 1st and 2nd prize was won, this was 3rd). I have legal recourse but I'm waiting for them to talk to the person who donated the tickets since they might have forgotten they were donated or thought they were lost. Keep in mind, they might be corporate seats, where several people have access. Could be a simple mistake but I need to jump through a few hurdles.

I can cut my losses and get my money back from buddy but I want to try and get my GF on the 5th level first.

^Woah you got a pair of tickets for $30? Or $30 each?

Sucks to hear about the situation but good thing you're getting it sorted it out! Hopefully all goes well for you.

fliptuner 10-12-2010 06:42 PM

Thanks man.... yeah $30 for both and they were only like 7 rows up. I mean I know it was just a Florida game but still, really made the best out of a bad situation. And who wouldn't want to see the first win of the season?

shawn79 10-12-2010 06:51 PM

^ did u get it from the black guy with glasses?
he always have awesome ticket prices and is very flexiable with them too if u have bought from him before

fliptuner 10-12-2010 07:13 PM

Nah, 5'10" husky white guy, with a beard and glasses, balding on top. See him there all the time. I think the worst deals come from the native guy that works with the tall white guy. This is my first time buying off scalpers but those two have offered to trade/upgrade my tickets before and it was just downright insulting.

Just watching the kings-thrashers game on the nhl network and they said all the hawks that got traded never got to celebrate with the team after the cup win, not going to be there for the banner raising, and when they get their rings, it pretty much gets brought to them and thats it...nothing else..haha...shitty deal. All that work and they don't get to enjoy the banner raising....

uhhh that happens every year....to every team. You think teams that win the cup don't have changes to their roster the following year?

spoon.ek9 10-12-2010 07:43 PM

i'm sure it sucks but it's probably more important to them to have won the cup, have your name on it forever, and spend part of the summer with it in your hometown.

hm..that is true...never really thought my post through before posting...

Although, the commentator, did say it doesn't happen often...especially since, byfuglien, sopel, eager got traded so fast after the hawks win.

Yes the only shocking thing was probably how fast they were traded away.

But the banner raising is more for the fans. How do you think the new hawk players feel seeing that banner go up when they weren't part of that Stanley Cup team.

Eberle is fucked!

I've always wanted to try this.

Go to the game like 5-10mins into the game and see if any scalpers are willing to sell cheap.

shawn79 10-12-2010 10:12 PM

i skytrained down there for 2nd period got tickets for $15 (lower bowl corner row 16) 2 yrs ago when the score was still 0-0 lol.

+1

now I'm soo tempted to do this.

But i'm afraid that I won't get any cheap tix.

Mercy 10-12-2010 11:41 PM

Scalpers will always try to unload tickets after the games started because they're trying to get as much money as possible. I just didn't know it was legal

The Wings look like they'll make an impact this season but I'm not sure about Howard. He gave up some weak goals last night vs. the Avs.

hotjoint 10-13-2010 06:51 AM

wow $30 is awesome

murd0c 10-13-2010 06:58 AM

In about 05 I showed up to a retro game after the first and I ended up picking up 2 tickets for 80 2nd row behind the net and they were playing the habs. The nucks ended up winning in ot and it was an awesome game!!!

I'm sorry to hear that. That is one of my biggest fears when buying tickets off of CL or even scalpers.

I'm glad you got to see the game and will get something back for those tickets. Ever since this was brought up during the olympics, it has made me upset that there is this "loophool" where honest people can get screwed.

rs never fails to impress me. I thought I figured out every way to spell "loophole", but apparently it's spelled lupoll, and loophool as well.
