I think that new goaltender coach helped him with stopping cross crease passes & back door plays, but at the expense of being too far back in the net when facing a shooter.

I think back to the goal that selanne scored (yes, i know it's a 5-3), and the goal that zidlicky just scored.. and even at the shot that greg zanon rang off the post. Sure they were great shots and i dont think the old lu would've let those in... he was too far in the net. I didn't realize how evident it was until I saw the slow mo reply... there was a lot of room for zanon to pick in the top corner... and at this level almost everyone can pick corners.
