Not really racist! 10-31-2010 10:51 AM

God damn, that was a disaster 2nd period for the Flames

Jeez christ, 6 goals in the 2nd and 7 unanswered?

The two Ovy goals were pretty sick, as well as the penalty shot and the first goal by Backstrom. Washington is still pretty fucking dangerous. They don't really need an "elite" goalie like us

Judging from last years playoffs, yeah, they do.

technically... it was halak who won the series. Can't really blame capitals' goalie for last year.

Sort of, you can.

Habs played the good ol' "Camp out your defense and just score on the rush every now and then hockey" that was so prevalent on the Devils, Wild heydeys.

Thats why you had OV trying to shoot through 3 or 4 bodies of players. Everytime the Habs have possession, it usually only 1 or 2 guys going up.

and a defense that can actually... wait for it... play defense

trancehead 10-31-2010 10:43 PM

offense wins games defense wins championships

Montreal won the series because no one was screening Halak. Same for the most part with the Pitts series. The opposition was just taking a bunch of clear shots that any goalie should've been able to save.

When Philly came along, that's when shit went downhill.

You don't win championships without winning games so.......

It seems to me that this cliche's wisdom is measured by it's phonetical appeal rather than it's logical merit.

Grandmaster TSE 11-01-2010 01:05 AM

you actually need both offense and defense to be a winner
you might be able to squeak through with just one of the two, but long term you will fail

Kind of hard to take a guy serious when he thinks Demitra's still on the team.

Exactly! Unfortunately it's not as catchy a saying as the cliche in question. Unfortunately it doesn't stop faux pundits from spouting it though as if it were some sort of hockey gospel.

mb_ 11-01-2010 04:33 AM

omg finally a fucking game!!! :D
