As for canuck fans wanting to watch Canucks/Leafs games simply because they are one-sided in favour of the Canucks, I have idea where you got that notion. I hate to generalize on this but a lot of what I hear from Canuck fans and the Vancouver media are complaints of how the media focuses too much on the Leafs, how CBC always airs the Leafs on HNIC every saturday even if its a game against Columbus, how TSN airs Leaf highlights first no matter how exciting other games are, how Leaf/Canuck games are always set to accomodate Ontario's time zone, and so on. There are many reasons for these things but that is besides the point. The point is, Vancouver has long held a certain level of anamosity towards "the eastern fatcats" in Toronto/Ontario and the Leafs are just once oultet for them to do this. They love to hate the Leafs. Plus, not too long ago (up until 1996), the Leafs were in the same conference as the Canucks and would meet in the playoffs, even facing eachother along the Canucks' very memorable run to the Stanley Cup finals in 1994. Don't forget, you're talking to a Leafs fan living in BC, I get to hear it all first hand. |
