Naslund was the purest offensive sniper in the league in his prime.....just "in the right place at the right time"?

From Bob McKenzie on twitter

Jeff Carter has agreed to terms on an 11-year, $58 million contract extension with the Philadelphia Flyers. AAV of $5.27M.

Im going to have to agree with this. Iginla is a great player and all but elite players can do it without that elite center. Just like how Naslund and Bertuzzi made Morrison better than he was. Iginla should be making whoever hes playing with better, not the other way around.

I think he's a great player who is stuck on a joke of a team.

Raw talent? He's a powerforward who was successful not only just for talent but his physicality. He doesn't play like he use to with the same intensity as he did before. A lot similar to Naslund's decline here in Vancouver. Naslund although ridiculed in the late stages here in Vancouver he was when in his prime always in the top 10 in scoring and missing out on the Hart trophy barely in 02-03.

Look at both of their peak years:

Naslund peaked in 2000-01 scoring 41 goals, 75 pts in 72 games, his decline started in 06-07 scoring only 60 pts.

Iginla's peak started in 2000-01 when he scored 52 goals and 92 pts, his decline started last year when he only scored 69 pts. Oh and he's on pace for 46 pts this year.

His peak might have been higher, he is younger but it looks really similar to Naslund's decline. Except Naslund's decline might have had to do a lot with his hip problems which made him so slow after the lockout then pre-lockout. Oh and also the Bertuzzi fiasco.

NHL11 question:

How do you invite people to join your league after it's created? Do they have to search for it, or is there an invite option?

Thanks!

Gh0stRider 11-13-2010 02:31 PM

OUCH!

Minnesota Wild defenseman Brent Burns was handed a 2-game suspension today from the NHL for this stick-to-the-face (video) of Steve Bernier of the Florida Panthers, which broke his orbital bone. Burns will lose $38,172.04 in salary, and was quite apologetic today in speaking with the media

Ronin 11-13-2010 02:59 PM

Carter is good but is he really a 11-year contract player? Not sure about that.

Carter's only 25 and averaged 36 goals over the last 3 years. At 5.27, I think he's worth it, he has the potential for 50+ IMO.

RiceIntegraRS 11-13-2010 03:06 PM

im gonna say 7-1 nucks
