Garrett's got a bonor over S, too by the sounds of it.

but he can't pronounce Schneider's name properly! "Sneider" he keeps saying!

didnt really like our odds in the shootout but would have prefered a SO loss than that outcome, good game either way

now to study :(

what's up with giving up the first two goals on the road?

happened in montreal, toronto, and now today.

it will probably happen on Wednesday too.

Harvey Specter 11-15-2010 09:02 PM

I'm glad we picked up the single point seeing how we were down 3-1 and things didn't look too good but man that was a heartbreaking goal with only 23 seconds remaining until the SO.

I just like goalies that are positionally sound ones don't play the puck in stupid situations and don't start swimming when they cant cover the puck after the first attempt. Luongos definitely the better goalie of the two atm but I think the way schnieder plays fits the team better.

What's everyone's thoughts on Hamhuis so far? Nothing overly noticeable negatively, but also nothing overly noticeably great.

Valued at $4.5M for the next 6 yrs, I'm wondering if my expectation that he will be the better defensemen over Edler was too much an expectation. (meaning that I thought at least without Salo, Hamhuis will be our #1 D, which right now it seems to be undisputedly Edler to me).

it's his first year with the club. We'll talk about this in January or February.

He's not an NHL rookie; and it's been 17 games & almost 1 month and half.

You're more than welcome to stay out of this conversation until 2012 but as stated below, this is what I wanted to know.

He's exactly as I expected him to be. Nothing outstanding but nothing below average. He got 24 pts last year with limited PP time and thats exactly what he's going to get here as well...limited PP time with Edler and Ehroff getting the PP duties. With Salo coming back expect even less. But we get a defencemen who rarely gets hurt since he entered the league.

He was the 3rd best d-man on Nashville and yes I know Nashville has one of the premier d-men in Weber and Suter but I think Edler is now near the level of Suter and Ehroff is pretty close as well. Never expected him to be our #1 or 2 guy but he makes a solid #3/4 d-man.

DanHibiki 11-16-2010 03:16 AM

Ballard and Hamhuis will get much more pp time next year once we get rid of Bieksa and Salo.

Ballard is an offensive d-man but he hasn't been getting lots of ice time/ pp time.

I was just trying to make sure you don't jump to conclusion on this guy just because he hasn't done much yet. Kinda like what we all did when Albert first joined the club.

My response wasn't a really response towards your question, it was just a statement to kinda comfort you that eventually he will become really valuable at $4.5M.

btw.. it's more like 9 games since he had a small injury.

Greenstoner 11-16-2010 07:15 AM

^ i almost got fool, forget he only played 9 games ...
i dont have anythinng good or bad to say about hamster either. If you dont notice a D-man, he is probably doing his job right. If you dont notice a forward, he is probably not producing or performing well.

mako 11-16-2010 09:41 AM

supposedly Hamhuis is still playing hurt
his foot is not 100%

Raymond sore hand/shoulder
Kesler in a knee brace

RiceIntegraRS 11-16-2010 10:52 AM

This is erhoffs contract year we may not be able to afford him next year. Would anyone want to have ballard over erhoff? Ballard makes too much money for wat he brings to the table. Erhoff edler salo and even hamhuis is where our offence is gonna come from. Imagine still having mitchell n sob and not having ballard n bieksa...... Our defence becomes 3 mil cheaper and better. Leave it to bad timing

raygunpk 11-16-2010 11:25 AM

I don't see why we wouldn't be able to afford him, unless his asking price is too high.
