Is that Calgary Flames thread still going on? honest question.

Ronin 07-01-2010 10:48 AM

Malhotra is too expensive if you as me. Ryan Johnson wouldn't have cost that much...although he does tend to get injured.

Depends how you want to look at it. If he does nothing again and frustrates the hell out of everyone again then it's still 1.75 million wasted either way.

manny also got 14 goals last year and 33 points where Ryan got 1 goal and 5 points. Whats the point of having a player who doesnt put any points up at all.

Ronin 07-01-2010 10:56 AM

How is he defensively? Because RJ is one of the best in the biz...he's Willie Mitchell as a forward.

Hondaracer 07-01-2010 11:01 AM

it says on the TSN description he played great for them in the playoffs last year, but Blake Price is going off on 1040 right now how he has little to no points in his last few appearances, 20 or so games

BlacknJean 07-01-2010 11:02 AM

leafs fans are prolly already planning the parade route for this coming season lol

i usually agree with u alot, but RJ was overrated in a big way. He was only good at Faceoffs and Blocking shots. This guy would never have the puck and would constantly chase the puck around.

either Hondaracer or raygunpk posted up stats where our PK went downhill whenever he was on the ice.

cdizzle_996 07-01-2010 11:05 AM

What about Marc-Andre Bergeron, He could have been had for cheap.

Or Afinogenov, 58 points last year for under a Mill.

That's why we build are d so we don't have to depend on our forwards as much

Burke may get a good deal for Kaberle...as he's waiting for all the dmen to get picked up..

no we're not, but at the very least things are looking up. BB still has some tinkering to do and now with gonchar in ottawa and paul martin gone, kaberle becomes more desirable to teams needing a defenseman. i've read the leafs might be after hamius and they still have the cap space to get kovalchuk (a long shot of course). its crazy to think even before the off season began, if you watch games from the first half of the season, half those leaf players are no longer leafs. I don't know what to expect but so far i'm impressed with what has been done.

Tim Budong 07-01-2010 11:10 AM

Manny Malhotra..also has 2pts in 19 playoff games

Yeah, that isn't how hockey works. You need forwards that are good and responsible defensively to win.

Ray Whitney is done in PHX for two years at $3M per year.

LOL Tanguay doesn't sound happy...he's on TSN right now.

the thing is you need a multidimensional player that is good on both ends of the ice not just one. We needed to change our 3rd and 4th lines and this is a start. Don't get me wrong we won't be able to replace RJ but he hasn't been productive enough to keep him.

Why wouldn't he be happy? He's the one that agreed/signed the contract lol

411ken 07-01-2010 11:19 AM
