Sounds like they don't even know what's going on in the front office. I wonder what the plan is with mason now. Posted via RS Mobile |
RT @TSNBobMcKenzie: Sources say PHI, TB and SJ were others pitching hard on Halak |

MTL fail!!!!! |
Eller: 21, a center in the AHL drafted 13th overall in 2007: From Bob McKenzie: Blues could take Halak to arbitration and get a 1-year deal out of it with Halak's UFA time looming. Halak is two years away from becoming a UFA. |

Reading the TSN comments, seems like most people in MTL think this was the right move. Should've at least gotten a draft pick! |
i hate price...stupid montreal |
When did Milbury take over as GM of the Habs? What a horrible fucking trade. |
Eller isnt too bad lookin at stats regardless, Halak needed a contract, and the habs got something back rather than just lose him. So its not too bad |
Price is a RFA as well so maybe Montreal is thinking they can sign him cheaper than Halak due to his shitty year. I think this was a bad move. Trade Price or at least get better return for Halak. Those guys are average prospects at best. |
LOLWUTMTL |
With taking Price 5th overall, they clearly don't want to give up on the guy. They should have gotten more for Halak though. Obviously they didn't want to take on contract so they should have gotten at least a draft pic out of it to go with the Prospects or something. From reading around, Eller is a decent prospect, who will be a solid 2 way player when pans out. If Price plays well next season, all will be forgiven. Maybe it was a good salary cap move... |
I think Price has potential. He didn't get along with Halak so with him out of the way, Price might start to play better because he'll have less pressure. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out for MTL. |

MTL fucked themselves badly on this one. Trading the goalie that single handedly got them to the Eastern Conference finals and would've won the Conn Smythe trophy had they gone deeper into the playoffs is a very stupid move by the GM. Not including the part where he doesn't even bother setting up a meeting to ask about his asking price. I can see trading Halak would get you decent prospects + picks whereas Price's value is at an all time low. Anyways, STL just got A LOT better with Halak as their netminder. With Oshie, Perron, Pietrangelo, 14th overall pick, Backes, Berglund, Boyes, and Johnson, things don't look so bad. |
Ok, last time I post Hawks stuff, but they were on Leno couple nights ago. |

However, I doubt MTL will be playing the same system that will have Halak's defensemens absorbing 50 shots per game in an 82 game spread when they already couldn't handle the wear & tear in a shorterened tournament format. This is probably what factored in the Halak deal as I doubt they'll be using the same system and will be looking at a different direction instead. MTL probably sided with Price because they project he's the better goalie individual to the system. Theoritically, they made the right choice. Realistically however... |
Halak was the reason they made it to the post season. He was full of HACKS!!!!!! Price on the other hand is over rated and full of FAIL |
Absolutely stunned about the Halak trade. It'd be like Calgary trading Kipper after their run... kinda. |

Im still on the fence with this trade. I believe MTL could have yanked some better players in return though. MTL's blueline does look sick though...with Subban, Markov, Gill. I think theyll have a great season coming up. |
