To the guy who asked if i'd take the cup for the team bieing gutted the following season..

FUCK YA

But the way Gillis is signing players we have a lot of decent players signed long term so we could be good for many years.

As a Canucks fan, would you be OK with a massive push that ended up with the Cup, but pretty much guaranteed that the team would be gutted right away?

absolutely yes

In a second. No real fan would say otherwise...no players either.

We basically have until the Sedins need to be signed again. Our roster is well balanced...I think the last piece is that we need our prospects like Hodgson and Schroeder to be significant contributors.

If atlanta cant get Ladd signed then its a win either way. Rumor says vishivsky is heading the to KHL next season. Hansen (mr. no finish) is just a salary dump for schreoder to make room on the team.

bieksa - defender/hard hitter/fighter
ladd- foward/hard hitter/fighter/penalty killer/ bc boy (for those of u who have hard on for bc boys) :troll:

looks good to me

I would still love to see the Canucks pick up 2nd/3rd line offensive player. I would prefer a vet that has a size but we shall wait and see.

probably do that by trading Bieksa. Bieksa for Lucic! MG make it happen!

edit then i just realised that Lucic makes wayyy too much money

orange7 07-01-2010 02:58 PM

so far, I like everything that gillis has done. He took some pressure off next year when salo and ehrhoff contracts end.

shawn79 07-01-2010 03:00 PM

ehrhoff will get an extention.

EmperorIS 07-01-2010 03:03 PM

+1 ehrhoff

So anyways....

i have not hung myself, but i did white up my some cat puke with a designated canucks towel.

I am VERY, i repeat, VERY pleased with tanguay and olli...

first of all the obvious reason, is we have 2 above decent players for 4.7mill combined....pretty fuckin amazing deal if you ask me

we dumped salary

and i personally like olli..

and i have a feeling we might be having a sign and trade deal, or more coming...
so im pretty excited

Alex isn't a bad pick up but I don't know about Olli. He has a rep of not been a team player and lets be honest, he's never really been the star player the Flames were expecting. He's never been the big goal scorer or a big impact player that he should be. Imo it's a stupid move by Sutter for bringing him back but we'll see how it plays out.

raygunpk 07-01-2010 03:16 PM

looks like bieksa is staying put for now

well i dont know if we are just using him for a sign and trade...

but im sure if he was joining our team, it has been made clear to him, he'll most likely be a 2nd or 3rd line center...

alex would really compliment jokie....as alex has really turned into a passer more than a shooter, and then jokie would have his spot as the sniper

since jokie was paired with iggy, its really hard to have two snipers on one line...so if we keep jokie, we will have a few very deadly lines

Harvey Specter 07-01-2010 03:26 PM

Alex will pay off, I've always liked him. He's got talent but he's also a very hard working player.

Tegra_Devil 07-01-2010 03:33 PM

guess we will see how it all plays out over the next few days and if its set in stone how it works out this upcoming season..

ps- im truly flattered that revscene members make a calgary flames thread for me...im glad im on your guys mind.

pss- thanks murdoc for texting me to make sure i was alive...that was very kinda of you

I am really curious to see what Gillis has planned or what was the reasoning to give MM $7.5M over 3 years and a no trade clause for a 3rd line center.

b0unce. [?] 07-01-2010 04:14 PM

curious to see if bieksa or mitchell gets the boot
also whats your guys thought on malholtra pick up?

because he's exactly what the canucks need
because he's one of the top faceoff men in the nhl
because he can be gritty, throw hits, and score 30-40pts
because he can help this abysmal PK we have
because he can take some of the pressure off kesler and burrows, and keep em fresh for playoffs
because he can ease hodgson into the nhl by playing center or either wing
because his 5on5 stats were 2.91 goals for/60MIN, 1.38 goals against/60MIN, which are dominating
because as mr biggs says, he's brown

armstrong got 3m and cullen got 3.5, 2.5 is a fine deal. it's an open market and the cap has gone up, what do you expect? the ntc is limited, and we won't have to worry about trading him anyhow.

Harvey Specter 07-01-2010 04:20 PM

Malholtra is a gritty player, I think he'll fit in just fine. And I'm sure Mitchell will get the boot before Bieska just because of uncertainty concerning his health.

b0unce. [?] 07-01-2010 04:25 PM

im pretty sad to hear ryan johnson isnt gonna be back (heard on t1040)
