SOOOO pumped for this years team! Great signings today, only my Willie was missing or else it would've been a perfect day!

shawn79 07-01-2010 04:28 PM

I think malhotra will be on 4th line, if hodgson is in since he is the best 2-way prospect right now.

Canucks easily takes 1st in the west now that chicago team has exploded :D

Missing: Ladd, Raymond, Mitchell

shawn79 07-01-2010 04:30 PM

Nhl best two hip checker on our team.

you're not paying that much for a 4th line player. malhotra will be on the 3rd line whether it's center or wing.

shawn79 07-01-2010 04:44 PM

kesler played some of his best hockey on the rightwing of sundin. if hodgson gets upgraded to 2nd line center, kesler can be there to take draws when needed and go back to wing. he can switch to wing easily, as can hodgson.
all bases are covered really.

woob 07-01-2010 04:54 PM

If Hodgson makes the team, Malhotra will be on his left wing.

i thought you might have been someone i deleted off my contacts, but then you mentioned revscene....then i got confused. :p

murd0c 07-01-2010 04:55 PM

who says Hodgson won' be wing? remember Malhotra was the #1 face off man in the league last year winning 61% of the draws.

411ken 07-01-2010 04:56 PM

^As much as I like Hodgson, there is no way in hell they throw him on the 2nd line right off the bat UNLESS he rips it up during camp. Plus, Raymond/Kes/Sammy had pretty good chemistry already with Sammy and Burrows switching from time to time.

mmmmmm

Sedin-Sedin-Burr
Raymond-Kes-Sammy
Tambellini-Hodgson-Malhotra
Hansen or Hordi-Rypien-Oreskovich

Ballard-Hamhuis
Edler- Ehrhoff
Salo-O'brien

Rome
Alberts

Tim Budong 07-01-2010 05:07 PM

people gotta keep in mind burrows isnt gonna be ready to go when the season starts.
keep bieksa to pad the lead for no1 in the west
hahaha

but seriously, theres roughly 2mil left. with 3 players to resign. raymond with his numbers could command a stupid amount of money if he takes the nucks to arbitration.

shawn79 07-01-2010 05:18 PM

u guys r overrating hogdson, schreoder is more proven at this point today.

cause what schroeder did for the Moose in the playoffs, he came out of college and played lights out for the first time with win during the most important time of the season.

EmperorIS 07-01-2010 05:44 PM

what about shirokov

I think it's tough for someone to play "lights out" for the moose when he's been injured.

Gillis stated in his interview on TSN (Gillis): ”Both, that’s what we talked to him about before we signed him, whether he was comfortable playing wing if we had a young centreman in the middle and he said absolutely he was. He’s a real solid guy, good character, good leadership, so he’s prepared to play at either position."

he didn't do much for the Moose last year but he had moments. It's very normal for a player coming out of Russia to have some problems getting used to the North American style of play.

woob 07-01-2010 05:47 PM

Gillis wants to add grit. Unless Shirokov is just amazing offensively this training camp or has gotten a bit dirtier since we've last seen him play, I don't see him making the line-up this season.

Also, I want a Hamhuis jersey....

fobulaus 07-01-2010 06:31 PM

Funny.... Remember how good Shirokov was during camp?

I think last season was different. Scoring was an issue and hence it seemed Shirokov's offense prowess was needed so heavily. Over the season, however, we realized we have offensive depth without him.

Coming into this season, we have proven offense and now we need more physical specialty teams/role players. Which is why unless Shirokov goes OV during camp (i.e. surprisingly better than last camp) I don't think there's a spot for him.
