It's not cold enough for Vancouver. Montreal or Toronto would be my pick but outdoor stadiums are the issue in both cities. I guess the Habs could use McGill's stadium but I think the max seating is around 25,000.
Last week, I think it was CBC, interviewed one of the NHL ice guys and he said the NHL has the ice plumbing under the ice in the outdoor rinks so making skatable ice in Vancouver wouldn't be an issue.
Heck, it was supposed to be 7C at game time in Pittsburg at the start of the game today.

If they can have an outdoor skating rink at Robson Square for the Olympics, why can't they do it for a hockey game?
Watch a div 2 game at 8 rinks compared to the ice cut up in an NHL game, throughout 2 games of very hard intense div 2 hockey the ice does not get cut up as much as a single period of NHL hockey Posted via RS Mobile

Did you skate on that ice? It's sorta bumpy and it isn't zamboni-ed often so the top layer is cut up and has snow refrozen into it. Not a big deal if you're just skating around for fun but when you're playing hockey and you're trying to get that first step off, those bumps seem huge.
It's like the difference between driving down our highways or whatever in a regular car and then driving an F1 car on the same road. You'll feel bumps you didn't think existed.

Obviously it's because they didn't care to make it NHL quality... but nobody says they couldn't.
Well, considering this year's Winter Classic was when it was about 11°C outside, probably wouldn't be any worse if it was here.

So far the past 3 years, every visiting team of winter classic ends up going to the SCF and losing. I guess the Caps will go to the SCF and lose too then?

The new Yankee stadium is a pretty good idea to host a Winter Classic.
But honestly, after seeing the game back on a football stadium just makes more sense vs a baseball diamond. But focusing on the NY area, it would make sense for the game to be hosted at Giants Stadium.
We will never see the "winter classic" featuring a canadian team. This event is the big publicity to to NHL. unless the sedins rise to stardom to the ranks of sid or ovie, it probably wont happen. If the canucks were to play one..it be in that "heritage classic" moniker and it would be great to see the nucks vs the leafs.
I think another original six Winter Classic would work well. Promote a very good goalie duel between Lundqvist vs Thomas. and having some decent american hockey players on the rangers could help sell the game.
If the NHL could feature some of their top AMERICAN talent at a winter classic, then the event would be easier to sell.
If that dont work, then Habs vs Bruins would be pretty epic, these two teams might lack the star power, but damn the games are good! Host it at Gillette stadium. thats not a bad idea. The NHL having the drawing power of Tom Brady could help quite a bit.

I've never driven a F1 car so I don't know how that comparison works. Where did you drive this F1 car , molson Indy guest rides? Posted via RS Mobile

Raymond being able to play is great. But can raymond still shoot the puck before the injury? Him on the 4th line is only written in, he might not be on the 4th by the end of the night Posted via RS Mobile
