honestly, who cares about press coverage? what does it contribute to regular or post-season success? NOTHING. it's much more important that we win games and go deep into the playoffs. fuck the press.

AzNightmare 01-06-2011 09:29 AM

lol, that is true. I've never gone on NHL.com expecting to read about Canucks.
I only use that site for NHL stats. But I usually only care about Canucks anyway, so
I'm always on Canucks.com instead.

I don't mind being the Canucks being the sleeper team. Makes it easier for them to win
against when they get the one-two KO punch from the Sedins... The East won't even know what hit them.

If the canucks beat Edmonton and Detorit this weekend I think you will be hearing a whole lot more buzz through out the league. With The winter classic and Crosby's streak over right now there's not much else to talk about.

chouchou 01-06-2011 10:30 AM

mm.. it's actually not very surprising NHL.com doesn't cover the canucks as extensively as it's eastern teams. after all, it is an enormously biased eastern league.
ironic though since west > east in almost every aspect =P

Can you believe that even after our current stretch of brilliant hockey, we're still not on pace to match what Washington finished with last year?

They only had 15 regulation loses total, and 121 points.

We're currently on pace for 120 points.

Remember when everyone was crying in October about how the canucks suck so bad and the team is a failure but a few of us said "just wait, the canucks always take 6 weeks to pick it up and always light it up from december on" hell i remember posting stats from the last few seasons showing how we tank in the first month or 2. man i love canucks fans.

in recent years we've been one of the best teams in the league in the second half. if we continue that trend, we're going to have a hell of a run into the playoffs.

every other year ive said "it isnt the year". theres always been pieces missing whether its secondary scoring, or the 3rd or 4th line a few years back, or the defense falling apart last season or whatever... if we stay healthy this year, im cautiously optimistic we've got the right pieces put together. hell, for the first time ever we have a goalie who if our starter cant take the pressure, the backup can take over. if we can win the west, im sure we take the cup. we're so good against the east.

but thats half a season and 3 rounds of playoffs from now, so its way too early to get excited.

USHL game. Puck split in half when it rang off the iron.

They look cool, but puck is definitely not in continuous forward motion,
player basically does a full stop right in front of the net...
In some cases, the player even makes contact blocking off the goalie in the process.

The move takes skill, maybe good for breakaways, but I think penalty shots have
different rules, such as no rebounds and puck needs to be in continuous forward motion...

am I wrong?

I don't believe a goalie can save this anyway... players just have to screw up on their own.

"The spin-o-rama type move where the player completes a 360° turn as he approaches the goal, shall be permitted as this involves continuous motion."

Hondaracer 01-06-2011 04:48 PM

pucks splitting are more of a manufacturing defect than a hard shot persay

ive seen my buddies that play DIV 2 at 8 rinks break quarter sections off of pucks before

when the game is forced into OT/SO even after leading 5-2 with 18 mins left,

you know you're a leaf.

Entire puck has to cross the line, so there would still be no goal.
