this 2 captain selection process will be interesting... let's see if each team will get a Sedin and Grabner has to be one of the most experienced rookies around :lol |

have they announced the 2 captains? they should agree to pick the sedins separate and agree with AO to pick him last for lols |
would've been even more awesome if they managed to stack the teams so it seemingly resembles team Canada vs team USA with a few extras |

The players from the group of 42 selected for the game will vote for team captains and two alternates per squad, who will then draft their team on Jan. 28 from the full pool of players. A roster of 21 players — 12 forwards, six defence, three goalies — will be drafted with no guidelines on choosing by position. A coin flip will decide which pair of captains will select first. The captains are expected to be announced in the coming days. The SuperSkills competition takes place on Jan. 29 (CBC, CBCSports.ca, 7 p.m. ET). Skills events include fastest skater, breakaway challenge, accuracy shooting, skills challenge relay, hardest shot and elimination shootout. Edmonton Oilers rookies Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle lead the group of 12 rookies who will compete in the skills events, with other first-year players Tyler Seguin of the Boston Bruins, Logan Couture of the San Jose Sharks, and Jeff Skinner of the Carolina Hurricanes. By virtue of winning the 2010 Stanley Cup, Chicago coach Joel Quenneville will be the head coach of one all-star team. Philadelphia's Peter Laviolette and Alain Vigneault of the Vancouver Canucks will serve as co-coaches of the other team. Here is the full list of the players selected for the all-star game: • Jonas Hiller, G, Anaheim Ducks • Tim Thomas, G, Boston Bruins • Cam Ward, G, Carolina Hurricanes • Carey Price, G, Montreal Canadiens • Henrik Lundqvist, G, New York Rangers • Marc-Andre Fleury, G, Pittsburgh Penguins • Dustin Byfuglien, D, Atlanta Thrashers • Tobias Enstrom, D, Atlanta Thrashers • Zdeno Chara, D, Boston Bruins • Duncan Keith, D, Chicago Blackhawks • Nicklas Lidstrom, D, Detroit Red Wings • Brent Burns, D, Minnesota Wild • Shea Weber, D, Nashville Predators • Marc Staal, D, New York Rangers • Erik Karlsson, D, Ottawa Senators • Kris Letang, D, Pittsburgh Penguins • Dan Boyle, D, San Jose Sharks • Mike Green, D, Washington Capitals • Corey Perry, F, Anaheim Ducks • Jarome Iginla, F, Calgary Flames • Eric Staal, F, Carolina Hurricanes • Patrick Kane, F, Chicago Blackhawks • Patrick Sharp, F, Chicago Blackhawks • Jonathan Toews, F, Chicago Blackhawks • Matt Duchene, F, Colorado Avalanche • Rick Nash, F, Columbus Blue Jackets • Loui Eriksson, F, Dallas Stars • Brad Richards, F, Dallas Stars • Ales Hemsky, F, Edmonton Oilers • Anze Kopitar, F, Los Angeles Kings • Patrik Elias, F, New Jersey Devils • Claude Giroux, F, Philadelphia Flyers • Sidney Crosby, F, Pittsburgh Penguins • Evgeni Malkin, F, Pittsburgh Penguins • David Backes, F, St. Louis Blues • Steven Stamkos – Tampa Bay Lightning • Martin St. Louis, F, Tampa Bay Lightning • Phil Kessel, F, Toronto Maple Leafs • Ryan Kesler, F, Vancouver Canucks • Henrik Sedin, F, Vancouver Canucks • Daniel Sedin, F, Vancouver Canucks • Alex Ovechkin, F, Washington Capitals |

Interesting list... some of these guys seem to be there because of reputation rather than having a good season. but...... No Luongo :troll: ?? |
^ I'm wondering if he opted to not play so he could spend time with his family. Posted via RS Mobile |

im ok with Claude Giroux I guess... I would rather see Gaborik over Marc Staal tho |
Zetterberg asked not to participate and was granted leave from the all star game by the NHL..this per Team 1040 as of 20mins ago |

Understandable, Lu just had a new child and would rather take the time off to spend at home and honestly, most players I know would rather take the weekend off for a mini vacation in the middle of a long season. |
remember each team must have 1 player in the game which eliminates the amount of people who are actually playing good. marc staal, hemsky, elias, backs, kessel, shouldnt be there. possibly iginla as well. |
they should find a way for the skills comp to seem like more of the players out there for a good time as opposed to following procedure. like what AO sorta did |

do the rookies game count? if so both teams have players in the rookie match |

There are four teams without a player on the actual all star squad. |

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this, but Stephan Auger is refereeing tonight's game. |
