In hockey, I don't understand why the coaches don't decide to call a Time Out when they see their team slowly losing control in the game.

When only up by one goal, and the other team is just applying loads of pressure, and it's like last 5 mins in the game.

What are they saving the time out for?

I'm not talking about just now, I mean in general. Is there a specific reason to wait?

They usually either wait until the game is tied or when they blow the lead.

LOL @ Caps fans chanting USA.

The Canucks have four American players. Caps have three.

Canucks: Kesler, Alberts, Ballard, Schneider
Caps: Carlson, Steckel, Poti.

You only get one time out, so most coaches wait until it is really needed, like giving the players on the ice a rest during an icing call. Especially when it is late in the game and the other team is going gangbusters. Rallying the troops is not really good use of a time out, unless the coaches see something. It depends on the system and the coach, I guess. I think AV has confidence in his team.

Sunday's game is an early one, folks.

Ronin 01-14-2011 05:41 PM

OUCH...Jimmy Howard injured. Might as well replace the Wings with their minor league team. Who the hell is in net for them now?
