because of his cost. I think teams are waiting for him to be sent down, and then recalled so that they will only have to pay 1/2 his salary.

murd0c 07-03-2010 11:26 AM

for half his salary a team would pick him up no questions asked. Would Edmonton have to pay half only this year or the rest of his contract?

Rest of his contract suckas

murd0c 07-03-2010 11:37 AM

its worth it just picking him up for that then.

Hondaracer 07-03-2010 11:57 AM

thats most likely what everyone is waiting for, although if you dumped him in the minors you would think the oilers would try to spite him and leave him down there for a bit lol

pure.life 07-03-2010 12:02 PM

they do have experience dealing with players wanting to leave (i.e Pronger).
Lowe said something about regretting trading Pronger so I'm sure they will probably leave Souray to dry in Edmonton.

Don't even find him that great. He didn't do much in NJ.

He didn't do much in New Jersey?? I disagree

Last season he had 41 goals and 44 assists for 85 points in 76 games.

In 27 games with the Devils he managed to go plus 9 and had 10 goals 17 assists (point a game player).

In the playoffs he got 2 goals 4 assists in 5 games for the Devils. Everything was their in New Jersey except chemistry. That would have come with time. He was there a few months.

The guy is a stud. P

If you're getting a point a game you're definitely good.. but are you 10 million dollars good? fuck no.

Bouncing Bettys 07-03-2010 03:18 PM

It almost seems like everything is being held up by where kovalchuk signs. I just wish he would make a decision sooner than later

RiceIntegraRS 07-03-2010 03:22 PM

for the amount of money Kovy wants, i dont think too many teams are in the running for his services. If he wants the money hes not gonna win, and if he wants to win hes not gonna get the money. The only place where i can see him going for a decent chance at both is the Kings

Kings wont give him that much money because they know Doughty is an RFA after next season and he should be the one with the big money long term contract.

Souray will not command the amount of value Dirty Pronger can get a team. At 35, the guy was a beast in the playoffs, Souray? not so much

With the cap era, guys that have great defensive ability with some offensive upside are guys you want. ie: Shea Weber

All this D talk makes me giddy thinking that we now have Ballard and Hamhuis hehehehehe.

The real question is which one will wear #2????

Not really racist! 07-03-2010 03:37 PM

Hamhuis cuz hes the local boy, maybe they both will not wear #2?

MR_BIGGS 07-03-2010 03:43 PM

All our dmen should wear the number 3 ;)

LUUUUUUUU 07-03-2010 04:06 PM

Ballard looks fine with #3 he can be the next KB3

AzNightmare 07-03-2010 08:10 PM

Well Ballard was a Canuck first....

lol

Really doesn't matter to me though.

Was Ballard ever a #3 at one point?
I think Hamhuis was always a #2.

know of any other player that has scored 40+ goals in his entire career so far except 2 seasons? not that many players in the league will provide that many goals consistently. however, i wouldn't pay that kinda money for kovy either just because he takes selfish penalties, not that great in his own zone and not physical enough. What was apparent in NJ was that he couldn't play a team game which IMO should've sunk his stocks quite a bit
