i wonder how wellfed feels about our much improved 3rd line. looking back at it, wellwood was utterly useless (other than in shootouts).

I highly doubt that.

How do you expect someone who's been sitting out the entire season with an injury to come back and play in the most pressure filled and physical time of year?

It takes time to find your legs again and to catch up the speed of the NHL regular season let alone the playoffs.

AzNightmare 01-20-2011 11:31 AM

I'm not sure how he'll fit in the team anyway at this point, and it seems
Canucks are doing an excellent job without him. Playoffs come, he may play 2 games
before he gets injured again cause of the high intensity of playoffs.

So yeah... probably better if he just stayed out this season now.

Btw, if Detroit gets Nabokov, is he expected to be starter or what?

I don't understand why you would dump Visnovsky and pick up Rask over Varlamov.

(I obviously don't know how keepers work)

Visnovsky is 34 and having a career year. Even if he does it again next year I'm still getting more upside by trading him and Iginla who is 33 for a 19 year old kid I might keep in my roster for 10+ years if he turns out as projected. Sell high. The opposing GM probably thinks Hall won't work out. He's also the bottom team in the league so he's probably wrong. :lol

Rask is just a throw in. I'll probably drop him for someone else. Just a toss in because young potential superstars are expensive in a keeper league buy huge if you can buy one cheap. The deal for Stamkos a year or two ago was nuts.

@capgeek. Deal still isn't done, but $570,000 for the rest of the year is what I'm told. Pro-rated to about $250,000. #nhl #redwings

Tim Budong 01-20-2011 12:38 PM

and with that salary, alot of teams will want to pick Nabby up

AWDTurboLuvr 01-20-2011 12:39 PM

I'd expect Washington to try to claim him (Nabby) off waivers if the Red Wings do sign him. They love Russian tenders there.

Yeah, because coming in mid-season worked so well for Mats Sundin!

Gh0stRider 01-20-2011 12:45 PM

i would think the Islanders would try.

I always liked Wellwood. On many nights, he wouldn't do a whole lot, but he would always put the puck where it should be. He unfortunately didn't have the wingers who could finish (Bernier, Hansen, Glass, etc.) Plus you know that he'll show up in the playoffs (which is arguably better than fading in the playoffs like other players did.)

Since Kes moved to the 1st power play, our 2nd unit could use Wellwood if only to at least put the puck in the prime scoring areas. Teams always can use guys with hockey sense and Welly has tonnes of it.

Almost 100% guaranteed that another team is going to claim him. What the hell was Detroit thinking signing him to such a low contract...they're practically telling people to claim him haha

mb_ 01-20-2011 12:54 PM

Let's claim him for trololols :troll:
