That's true, however, he would then get suspended and wouldn't get paid.

Basically, he would just be an idle player. I doubt Nabokov would do that even if it is for the Islanders. It's not like he has played his entire career on a team and is now on the rival team.

Nabokov wont report, kind of a douchebag move by islanders as he said he wouldnt report to any team that wasnt a contender. Islanders cant trade him so they will either suspend him rest of season or put him back on waivers and this happens all over again.

Nope they have 2 options, suspend without pay = hes done for season or put back on waivers and the same claim process happens again. If they suspend for the season they are going to get a huge amount of negative press so I'm sure if they cant convince him by noon tomorrow he will be on waivers again. Also Chris Osgood commented on the Islanders taking Nabokov "...The Islanders are terrible so I'm not sure why they did that."
