Gh0stRider 07-06-2010 11:09 AM

@JeffMarek Rogers takes over naming rights for GM Place in Vancouver.

woob 07-06-2010 11:56 AM

^^ or the "Telus World of Hockey"

... I'm still sore about Science World.

MR_BIGGS 07-06-2010 12:43 PM

So no more Garage!

Harvey Specter 07-06-2010 12:45 PM

I would have preferred Telus but Rogers doesn't sound too bad.

SoulCrusher 07-06-2010 12:47 PM

Rogers Arena sounds gay

Bouncing Bettys 07-06-2010 01:27 PM

I'm not a big fan of corporations feeling they have to have their name on a sporting venue. The buildings of my childhood seemed to have personalities, quirks, etc. Corporate named venues seem to switch names and corporate sponsors so often they can't induce any sence of history or tradition.

I agree, but Aquillini owns the building, so he can do whatever he wants with it.

I don't go to games much these days, but it looks like Rogers will have a presence in all areas of stadium - on-screen, on-ice, and through wireless. Maybe Rogers subscribers will have some enhanced data features on their phones during events?

AzNightmare 07-06-2010 01:42 PM

Should have called it something like Rogers Coliseum.

Bring back the Coliseum. It sounds scary.. it's where Canucks kill other teams.

yeah I will always call it Riverside Coliseum. It's where I played minor hockey and where the Blazer's won Memorial Cups and there hasn't been too much success there since they went corporate.
