Bring back the Coliseum. It sounds scary.. it's where Canucks kill other teams.

you OBVIOUSLY never watched the canucks play in the old colliseum ...

Harvey Specter 07-06-2010 02:09 PM

I hate the "arena" bit, Rogers place sounds better.

Noir 07-06-2010 02:12 PM

Why are you people ragging about the corporate influence within the hockey industry? Don't you know that without corporate involvement, NHL would probably revert back into its original 6 platform? Not many cities would have the venues to house their local team.

I can live with an arena even named after Viagra rather than the franchise move to another city that will house them.

ya, i still call it riverside coliseum...god i miss the days of playing hockey in there!

regarding other canucks news:

Canucks Re-Sign D Shane O'Brien to 1-Year Deal, $1.6m (Accepts QO)

orange7 07-06-2010 02:55 PM

Just a name. As long as they don't take hockey away from me, I'm fine with anything.

Eastwood 07-06-2010 03:17 PM

Good news for the Canucks and O'Brien. Although I was hoping we were going to swipe that Russian prospect Nikita Filatov off Columbus.

On the subject of naming rights...

Quote:

Adulterer dating site AshleyMadison.com offers $25M to buy rights to new Giants-Jets Meadowlands stadium

Two weeks ago, New York Giants co-owner John Mara said the NFL's decision to award the 2014 Super Bowl to New York might help attract a naming-rights sponsor for the new Meadowlands stadium.

"It can't hurt," Mara said. "This is a positive factor. It makes it an even more attractive package, the potential naming rights part, but that will come."

And now the Giants and the New York Jets, who co-own the stadium, have a company that wants to buy the rights: AshleyMadison.com, which has offered $25 million to buy the naming rights for five years.

AshleyMadison.com is a dating service that caters to adulterers -- proudly. The language on the site's welcome page reads: "Life is short. Have an affair."

AshleyMadison.com founder Noel Biderman told TMZ the site might even up its offer. "We would be pleased to match any such superior offer," he told the site.

The site will probably need to do just that. The New York Daily News reported that the Giants and Jets are seeking about $20 million per year for the rights.

I remember when GM place was first announced the huge up roar how we can name it that. It's just the same thing right now, it will get a nick name and it will grow on us and we will be happy with it just like GM place.

Hondaracer 07-06-2010 05:23 PM

meh, more money to be put back into the team

Gh0stRider 07-06-2010 06:02 PM

Mike Modano says only team that interests him is Wings

Forget about the Blackhawks or any other NHL team. If Westland native Mike Modano decides he wants to play hockey next season, he is going play for the Red Wings.
