Ballard is getting a MRI done tomorrow

Gumby 02-07-2011 09:16 PM

Frick, that picture is painful to look at... :(

b0unce. [?] 02-07-2011 11:26 PM

Our D :(

Might not be too reliable, but Blake Price said on TEAM 1040 he has heard sources from the organization that the injury is not as bad as it looks.

Actually it's always good to hear when a franchise allows for even a centrifugal player to take that extra margin of recuperation to make sure the recovery is complete for the sake of player longevity.

I mean, considering the pressure of the NHL to perform and hearing stories of Souray being rushed by the EDM management, it's always good to hear franchise put players > money.

holy crap....your leg is definitely not supposed to bend that way...

please don't be injured...

I bent my knee completely the opposite way on a hockey play (when a defensemen fell down on my knee while I fell backwards with my foot still up on another player), and luckily I only got a hyperextended knee out of it.

Here's to Ballard hoping nothing's torn.

Our D is looking about as deep as the Marianas Trench right now, there's no need to rush anyone.

BTW, got a kick out of the stat they were talking about on the Team last night, that Alfredsson was the Sens' leading scorer with a whopping 30 goals, and if Ehrhoff was on the Sens, he'd be their leading scorer with 31. (Then again, if Ehrhoff was on the Sens, he'd probably be wallowing in suck too...)

Yeah, Ehrhoff with 32 points is actually ahead of Alfredsson with 31 points right now. The only team worse than the Senators at the moment... is basically the Islanders. That's pretty bad for Sens fans.

ya... blows for my hockey pool tho lol

Gumby 02-08-2011 08:29 AM

Props to Chris Neil for not engaging Daniel after his big hit on Henrik (despite Daniel giving him the lumber)!

LUUUUUUUU 02-08-2011 08:47 AM

i think we might need a chris neil type of guy on our 4th line for the playoffs... this guy's got a lot of playoff experience too

b0unce. [?] 02-08-2011 09:03 AM

personally not a huge fan of chris neil, i think he's a bit of a scum bag

Hopefully the MRI confirms its not as bad as it looked.

Ballard's agent @benhankinson just talked to him and Ballard says "it's not as bad as it looks. I'm pretty flexible." No prognosis yet tho.

sonick 02-08-2011 09:27 AM

Whew, hope so!

update on ballard from botchfords twitter

Encouraging news > RT @tg_gman Keith Ballard has MCL sprain or tear. Optimistic reports have him out 2-4 weeks with 4 most likely.

if its a tear id assume he will either opt for surgery or try to play on it after swelling goes down

How is that encouraging news?

Tony Gallagher reports:

Preliminary reports on Ballard indicate no tear and thus the 2-4 week estimation. If MRI reveals a tear, it will obviously be longer.

sonick 02-08-2011 10:57 AM

+1, if he's got an MCL tear he's prolly out until at least the playoffs.

Indeed, no rush at all.

AzNightmare 02-08-2011 11:32 AM

Wow... starting to like the Canucks depth in the Defense department.

I guess it really shows... you can never have too many Dmen on the Canucks lineup.
Seems like some of our guys have pretty bad luck with staying healthy.
