nope, long ass story involving quinn and the owners at the time. gretzky was supposed to be on the nucks too, he wanted to play with bure, but they also fucked that up.

RiceIntegraRS 07-07-2010 09:17 PM

^it involved like a 3am wakeup call to Gretkzys home waking up his whole family demanding that he make his desicion to play for the Canucks or not

6thGear. 07-07-2010 09:24 PM

Nasland deserves to get his number retired. He was a HUGE part in bringing hockey back to life in this city.

And on the Bure thing. Didn't he wait for several hrs after landing at the airport waiting on the organization to be picked up?

And didnt the Canucks tell Bure that his first 60 goal season was a fluke?
And there was a story about Bure withdrawing his services for the playoffs until he got a new contract, and he denied it, and the Canucks didnt back him on it?
And didnt the Canucks trick Bure into paying him in CND Dollars where his 2 russian counterparts Mogilny and Fedorov were being paid in US

just off the top of my head

^ Yup

He was screwed the first day he joined the Canucks and he had enough of being jerked around and that's why he demanded to be traded.

Everybody is so wrapped with "Bure demanded a trade so he must be an asshole!" mentality when it was the organization itself that drove him away. You guys can thank people like Stan McAmmond for that.

Can you guys really blame a guy for wanting to leave after being bent over like that for so many years? The guy was the most exciting player in the league and franchise history and they treated him like some 4th line scrub.

Had they waited several hours longer, we might have had a cup or 2 by now.. :fuuuuu:

Woulda coulda shoulda, but NEVER did. That's the past, geesh. Looking forward to 2010/2011, can't wait for hockey to return!

I believe there is an NHL rule that requires name plates to be on the back of all jerseys worn in game, so these 40th anniversary ones should have them when they wear them. Weather they'll have them pre-stitched on for public sale is another story.

its also about contributions to the city, what he did for charities and etc on top of raw hockey stats

It was unfortunate that Trevor was the star that game and stole the limelight from Nazzy, but Im sure he understands. It was also unfortunate he was never the same player since the bertuzzi incident, but it never took anything away from him as a PERSON

i cried when linden retired and his number was raised to the rafters
i still rock the linden jersey to canuck games.

still missing the '03 season with the west coast express. looking back at the team 7, 8 years ago, man the team has changed dramatically
faces like ohlund, jovo, cooke, linden, nazzy, bert, morrison...

Hamhuis takes shot at Preds fans.

When speaking to the small crowd at Roger's Arena last night he said,

"This crowd reminds me of a home game in Nashville." lol

411ken 07-08-2010 10:01 AM

Wow, another jersey for the canucks? haha such a cash grab ha.... :(

I bet Hamhuis will be the #1 seller soon
